Hello friends and Sinead from a wintry Armenia. Sounds like Laetitia on the vocal. Or someone that wants to sound like her.

Haha, as always on this show the playlist wasn't updated, hahaha.

Earth Walker, a very good friend of mine lives in the south, and he's been keeping me up to speed around the protests and strikes. Hope your day isn't too disrupted. And that you get some good verses written too!

Hi stillwell This is a trip but I have ancestors with the name stillwell ! who actually lived in Coney Island
Maybe we are part owners of the avenue

Just tuned in, first song of the day a shangri la’s classic, followed by the Sonics! Waow its gonna be a good day

Jan-Willem +++ agreed, good omen.

@Jan-Willem - I second that emotion. A day that begins with The Sonics is a day to get things done.

She’s playing a lot of music that sounds like nick cave today.

dan vallejo:

I saw the ads for his show in sf, and with weyes blood as opener. need to buy tickets I think. Just annoyed that the last time I spent a lot for tickets way ahead of time was for cat power and then the weekend rolled around and I completely forgot what day it was.
  4:47am
Curious Tom:

Great set, Sinead. I had to give up my wee pooch today so this is cheering me right up.

muddy waters, excellent. Thanks Sinead, great show. Nice fan service too, it's fun to be a participant while really just enjoying the show.

Wow. Dusseldorf, Moshi Moshi. Gobsmacked. <makes diligent jots into notebook>
  4:56am
dan vallejo:

fan service might have been a poorly chosen term, I thought I was being clever, but decided to read up on it more, and maybe it's a bit too unfortunately flavored. The guitar on have myself a ball is nice. purifying.

happymaan in Atlanta:

I take in back Sinead, you lost that Nick Cave vibe.

I've seen nick cave, and I think he would vibe to this pretty well.

Thanks Jan-Willem, when I was 4 my favorite track on the radio was 'walk like an egyptian', and it wasn't until I was 12 that I truly fell in love with music in an adult way. I would put on U2's exit and mother's of the disappeared and cry to them in my own pre-teen way. Ah, music.

  5:25am
dan vallejo:

Sinead, have you ever listened to Holger Czukay's 'Good Morning Story' from his album of the same name? I was playing it at the front desk of my dormitory some long years ago, and a young guy came up and said 'this is can' and I was surprised that he knew. But it's this same drum beat and bassline and now I finally have had the same reaction.

Good Morning Sinead...I've been listening to Transmission in the archives recently and it's becoming one of my favorite shows here on the 'ol FMU.
  5:29am
dan vallejo:

When I was 17, I sent the Tone Casualties record label a crazy email, and they sent me a package with several cds and a bunch of pins and a note that said 'stay crazy dan', and it meant the world to that young kid. It's only now that I'm older I realize that the music industry for many of the artists that we love is quite small, and the people who love you are quite few. I think it's clearer now than it was than. I was just emailing with Jolie Holland earlier tonight. It seemed so deceptively vast back then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38am
Jan-Willem:

Not to discredit C.P. But I think I'll put on some Gun Club after Sinead has left the internet waves..

happymaan in Atlanta:

Thanks for a great show as always. Have a great Thursday everyone.
  5:39am
dan vallejo:

Haha, full of the words indeed, you're not the first to say. Anyway, do check out that Czukay track, I think a really nice thing of his later american work. There's a simpsons connection in there too, tone casualties was founded by Gabor Csupo of Klasky Csupo who made the first simpsons season. I seem to recall Csupo lived in walking distance of Frank Zappa, and that had something to do with something. Great show, thanks for putting these togeter. Okay, properly, good night all for real. Thanks again Jan and Sinead for the shout outs.

Earth Walker, hi to you ! Stillwell Ave. was named after the man who had a lot to do with the construction of the Coney Island boardwalk which begins at the street named after him. (Stillwell Ave) that begins at the corner of Surf Ave where all the rides are located.
