Doesn't sound like you got a bad deal falling back on your second choice here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:02am

Ha! indeed ultradamno...I was gonna play both versions - this will do nicely!

egould310:

I almost wrote “Good start”. But then, Butthole Surfers?

Hell yeah!! Tearin’ up the mothafukkin start!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23am
ultradamno:

By Products of America. I've seen them many times. Really good band, not overflowing with stage presence, but great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am
ultradamno:

Clip of them playing at Sudsy Malones, the rock and roll laundromat, I believe www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26am
TomDash:

ultradamno - wasn't sure if that was the same band - cool you saw them, love that track on the new comp
  12:33am
egould310:

@ ultradamno I graduated from New Castle, IN hs in 1987. Spent so much time in Muncie (No Bar), Indy, Cincy, Dayton, Columbus, Bloomington, etc. going to shows. We probably were shoulder to shoulder in a mosh pit at some point.
  12:34am
egould310:

But now I’m in Seattle. I listen to WFMU to stay “edgy”.

Oh wait; Tony?

greetings Tom and others
  12:52am
egould310:

And I was already listening to “college rock” like REM, Replacements, dB’s, etc.

Then Jerry gave me a mixtape that changed my life. Scratch Acid, The Fall, The Cramps, Jarboe. Weird as hell, but it blew my mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am
TomDash:

greetings coelacantho, rduck, etc...looks like we have a MidWest reunion going on here with egould310 and ultradamno...crazy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am

Were you into punk then? She was so...sour with us it's difficult to imagine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am

@Tom I know this must be thrilling reading for everyone else.
  12:56am
egould310:

I was nibbling around the edges of punk. Mostly college rock and stuff. And you guys were not very friendly.

She was nice, but definitely didn’t share here bro’s music tastes. She was really into Night Ranger.

8th grade. Whatever.

can you play sister christian

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03am

Brad Gillis had a good turn as Ozzy's guitarist on one of his 80s tours and that live album.
  1:06am
rw:

Does this R. Calvert record sound good as a record or does it just sound good as single tracks mixed in with a radio show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am
TomDash:

rw - its a good record, but a little uneven
  1:18am
rw:

Cool. Thanks. I've been curious about his solo stuff but haven't got much farther than that. Some day, I guess. There's too much music!!
  1:20am
rw:

And this station's programing doesn't leave much space to explore much else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am
TomDash:

ha, rw I hear ya...his 2 records with Hawkwind are essential if you dig Hawkwind...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26am
coelacanth∅:

Calvert's first 2, maybe 3-4 albums used to be on youboob, in their entirety. i thought i jacked 'em but i can't find the files. maybe i never got around to it, but i did listen to them through a few times.
anyway i haven't used youboob for music in several years so i don't know if they're still there.

egould310:

How old is Lee Scratch Perry? Like, 114 years old?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27am
mariano:

Ooh, saw Lee Scratch Perry a few months ago, 45th anniversary of Blackboard Jungle.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28am
ultradamno:

Well, coel nowadays, if you don't pay them money, You Tube thoughtfully interrupts with commercials every four or so minutes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28am

Or was it a year? All blurs together at my age. He came out on stage filming the audience with his phone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31am
coelacanth∅:

ultra d that's not surprising.
i do sometimes, as a last resort, use it for instructional videos but i never watch more than a few minutes.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33am

mariano that's cool he's 83 now and looks pretty good...and he always sounded like an old man so no changes there!
-did he rant forever? i heard that he's gotten over that and puts on a good show now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36am
coelacanth∅:

haha -"filming the audience with his phone"...what a weirdo!
  1:36am
rw:

Time for me. Need to get up early. Thanks TomDash! Have a good evening everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am
mariano:

@coelacanth - He was having a great time - it seemed like one long stream of vocals. Brooklyn-based sound system backing him up. My main impression: what an amazing way to spend one's golden years! Have a good night, @rw.

mariano -somebody who actually is "living the dream".
i doubt he needs the money; probably just loves the attention -as well as being profoundly passionate about the music..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45am
mariano:

Yeah, @coela - everyone was stoked to see him, and was stoked to see everyone. Good vibe. And it was a really good show, at Tipitina's, nice small/medium venue. Tickets were only $15.

Hey Morris - thanks for tuning in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11am

I gave Robin Crutchfield's radio show a listen yesterday and, man, that is one eclectic 120 minute block. Not just everybody goes from Betty Hutton to Chris & Cosey to Fleetwood Mac at a run like that. That's Irwin worthy.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31am

@mariano: I hope they'll have Guinness on tap at that show. That would be appropriate
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35am
mariano:

Haha - warm Guinness!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39am
mariano:

At least that's what someone told me in Jamaica - cold Guinness was more expensive, so a lot of people developed a taste for warm Guinness, became associated with reggae/dub.
