	4:09pm worldsworstrecords: Funnily enough, I'm currently researching bands who played benefits for the Gay Liberation Front in the early 1970, and a lot of prog/hippy/rock acts were involved: Camel, Goblin, Monksilvar, Hawkwind, the Pink Fairies...

	4:11pm Mr Fab: I'm also not sure what is prog - I was always a huge fan of Roxy Music/Eno, Capt Beefheart, King Crimson/Fripp, Can, Hawkwind, Peter Gabriel solo. But you never hear Beefheart called "prog" like, say, ELP. I mean, is early Devo prog? Stuff like "Joko Hom" is in 7/8.
	4:12pm worldsworstrecords: I'm not sure if that was the same Goblin, Rich. The Italian band seem to have only existed from 74 onward I think, but these UK shows were 72/73... sadly there's very little info out there so I'm pissing in the dark somewhat
	♥ 4:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl: Prog tends to be "progressive" in the sense of moving music beyond traditional pop structures of time etc. Lots of jazz influences, lots of classical influences. Lots of experimentation.
	♥ 4:13pm Rich in Proganistan: I nearly submitted a proposal all Prog program on the college station I was on briefly. It was under naïve assumption that: A: the people listening to the station would like to be exposed to unfamiliar music; and B: that there were listeners of the station.

	♥ 4:15pm Rich in Proganistan: I tend to think of all of it as 'art rock', even some Glam, RIO, Canterbury, et al. But Prog seems like it's distinguished by the musicianship of the artists, some classic music discipline (Jazz, Classical, Folk, etc.).
	♥ 4:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl: I'll add a theory here that musical definitions can be better explained by drugs and social culture (or lack of) rather than the music itself most of the time.
	♥ 4:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl: So Mod tends to be sharp and short (speed), psychedelia very long and out there (LSD), and prog a bit wilder and dreamy and long (dope), etc. Very general definition, I know.

	♥ 4:18pm coelacanth∅))): well, like..."punk rock". what the hell is punk rock? wasn't rock & roll by definition all punk rock at one point? by the time the term was a "genre" there were vague lines between punk rock, rock & roll, pop... what's "new wave"? pop music.
	4:19pm Mr Fab: Your theory could be right, GG! i do think of my favorite wild 'n' crazy rock n roll, as "beer-soaked," and the best vocal/EZ as cocktail music.

	4:52pm Otis Fodder: When I saw King Crimson a few weeks back, the line at the ladies room was not too shabby, a small line but nothing compared to (IF, and a big IF, I was to ever see Rush live). Ha. BUT... at Magma 2 years back... the lines were very equal. Yessss!

	5:27pm Martinibomb: I know this sounds weird but I've never been grabbed by Pink Floyd in the way most people I know have. I never liked them when I was a kid and I've only warmed up to them a little over the years.

	5:29pm Progus Podder: All albums pre-dark side, I go back to on the regular. However, sometimes I just have a fix on a blue moon to hear Animals or Dark Side... but The Wall and Final Cut, my 13 year old self is like wow rad dude, and I am not listening, not one bit, sorry old me.

	5:34pm Progus Podder: When I was in middle school, I loved solo Roger Waters. I was young and thought Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking was killer. Ummmm, sorry Roger, I have tried, really I have. Only one I keep on the shelf here is the album The Body (with another fav, Ron Geesin)!
	♥ 5:34pm coelacanth∅))): it took some immersion, but when wish you were here was constantly on the radio it clicked in me just as they stopped playing it to death. then, exploring what came before i fell in love. favorite albums: piper at the gates of dawn; meddle; saucerful of secrets. i stopped paying attention to them when the wall came out.

	4:11pm Mr Fab: I'm also not sure what is prog - I was always a huge fan of Roxy Music/Eno, Capt Beefheart, King Crimson/Fripp, Can, Hawkwind, Peter Gabriel solo. But you never hear Beefheart called "prog" like, say, ELP. I mean, is early Devo prog? Stuff like "Joko Hom" is in 7/8.
	4:12pm worldsworstrecords: I'm not sure if that was the same Goblin, Rich. The Italian band seem to have only existed from 74 onward I think, but these UK shows were 72/73... sadly there's very little info out there so I'm pissing in the dark somewhat
	♥ 4:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl: Prog tends to be "progressive" in the sense of moving music beyond traditional pop structures of time etc. Lots of jazz influences, lots of classical influences. Lots of experimentation.
	♥ 4:13pm Rich in Proganistan: I nearly submitted a proposal all Prog program on the college station I was on briefly. It was under naïve assumption that: A: the people listening to the station would like to be exposed to unfamiliar music; and B: that there were listeners of the station.

	♥ 4:15pm Rich in Proganistan: I tend to think of all of it as 'art rock', even some Glam, RIO, Canterbury, et al. But Prog seems like it's distinguished by the musicianship of the artists, some classic music discipline (Jazz, Classical, Folk, etc.).
	♥ 4:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl: I'll add a theory here that musical definitions can be better explained by drugs and social culture (or lack of) rather than the music itself most of the time.
	♥ 4:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl: So Mod tends to be sharp and short (speed), psychedelia very long and out there (LSD), and prog a bit wilder and dreamy and long (dope), etc. Very general definition, I know.

	♥ 4:18pm coelacanth∅))): well, like..."punk rock". what the hell is punk rock? wasn't rock & roll by definition all punk rock at one point? by the time the term was a "genre" there were vague lines between punk rock, rock & roll, pop... what's "new wave"? pop music.
