KEXP's really great! I mainly listen for their incredible live sets. Are there any shows/DJs you'd recommend, JfFP?
Avatar 12:22pm
Alina Brennaman:

I'm still pre-caffeine but digging this thai track! it's almost a replacement for my tea...
  12:22pm
Martinibomb:

@john and as u can see it's confusing to talk about
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm
Rich in Washington:

Yeah. Lots of stalling on the Drummer stream. It's frustrating for folks doing radio AND those listening.
  12:24pm
John from Florham park:

@ruch this station or KEXP, Iif this station I recommend shrunken planet on Saturday mornings and dark night of the soul on Thursday 12 my time on the drummer stream
  12:26pm
John from Florham park:

@Rich during a show yesterday the stream dropped during a show in the drummer stream
  12:27pm
John from Florham park:

@rich also on Sunday mornings on this fine station is serious moonlight sonata three hours of bliss
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm
Rich in Washington:

I've just recently become a fan of Dark Night of the Soul. It's fantastic. I really dig her show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
Rich in Washington:

@ John from Florham park@12:26: Dropped, but came right back, right? Or dropped the stream and didn't recover?
  12:30pm
John from Florham park:

@Rich so do I and the DJs can use naughty words and play songs with naughty words in them too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
Rich in Washington:

Yes. We're not beholden to the FCC on the alt streams. We can say any FuCCing thing we want.
  12:31pm
John from Florham park:

&Rich yes dropped for 10 to 15 seconds then came back and was great the rest of the show
  12:31pm
John from Florham park:

@Rich that’s why I like the alt streams
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm
Rich in Washington:

:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
Rich in Washington:

I am so used to doing radio during FCC 'safe harbor' that I hate having to screen music for obscenity. Did a show before 10 once on regular radio and let a 'shit' go through and ended up in 'radio jail' for a stint.
  12:37pm
John from Florham park:

@Rich ouch that must have sucked
  12:38pm
Martinibomb:

It's not just bad words you can say piss on radio in context of anger but if u say it as a sex/body thing then they nail u
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Rich in Washington:

Ugh, Jason. I feel your pain, re: glasses, eyes, etc. I need giant type print on all my equipment, etc.
Avatar 12:39pm
Thibault:

Great art therapy music, you made me discover this group Jason
Avatar 12:42pm
Jason Elbogen:

Yeah, I like them a lot and I'm glad you can actually hear it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
Rich in Washington:

Yep. Especially if someone files a complaint with the FCC.
Although, we were taught that we can play absolutely anything after 10pm except the EAS signal, nothing is indecent during safe harbor, but we can't randomly swear ourselves. We can say 'That was Anal Cunt..' but can't say those words randomly.
Stations can sort of individually interpret those things themselves, outside of the hard Safe Harbor rules. My station used to push it from a free speech perspective but now are probably much more respectful of hateful, hurtful speech, etc, sexist references, etc.
  12:44pm
John from Florham park:

@Rich what station did you work for?
Avatar 12:44pm
Thibault:

Loud and clear!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm
Rich in Washington:

KBOO in Portland OR. I am a volunteer DJ, not paid or anything. I mean, it's sort of work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Rich in Washington:

Used to be very involved with programming, engineering, but it became less fun, so just do my lil' show there now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Rich in Washington:

This is wonderful, Jason!
  12:50pm
Martinibomb:

This a mutant generation excellent
Avatar 12:50pm
Mayuko:

Hi Jason!!
Avatar 12:52pm
Mr Fab:

"We can say any FuCCing thing we want" - ZING, Rich!
Avatar 12:53pm
Mr Fab:

Jason, some DJs here restart their system before every show, so prevent what happened to you this morning. Maybe something everyone should get in the habit of doing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
Rich in Washington:

I think one of my DJ friends coined something like "The FCC's nothing without U in the middle". We had no love for them, especially after a ridiculous landmark obscenity fine in 2000 (which we beat the rap on) and it had been headed by Colin Powell's son during the W years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
Rich in Washington:

Love the synthy goodness in this set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Rich in Washington:

USHA!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
Rich in Washington:

This album's nuts!
  12:57pm
Martinibomb:

Never heard this track from Usha.. how did I miss this one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
Rich in Washington:

It contains one of my go to Xmas songs. Just wonderful.
  12:58pm
Martinibomb:

Guess I haven't heard this album hmmm
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Rich in Washington:

The entire album's pretty nutty. Probably her best.
Avatar 12:58pm
Jason Elbogen:

Hi Mayuko/all... I never had the problem before (with the streaming program telling me I was conneccted when I apparently wasn't)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm
Rich in Washington:

I love Welcome, Test Tube Baby and Lucy Has Been Crucified.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
Rich in Washington:

Mayuko! Hello!
Avatar 1:00pm
Jason Elbogen:

Mayuko--have you had any streaming problems recently?
  1:06pm
Martinibomb:

@jason maybe it connected to test stream accidentally I have had that issue
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm
Rich in Washington:

This is fantastic!
Avatar 1:07pm
Mayuko:

I've been lucky, but seems like many drummer DJs been having trouble streaming too. That's really weird that the SAMcast said you're connected when you're not. Is there a chance you were connected to a wrong stream? Think I did it myself before in Studio C.

Hi Rich!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
Rich in Washington:

I listen to the Drummer stream quite a bit throughout the week. They've had this recurring stalling thing where it switches to the auto playlist but then seems to recover quickly. Really just a few seconds at the most.
Avatar 1:15pm
Mayuko:

I wasn't aware having have to deal with international students has such rewards. Glad to hear that as a former intl student. Sorry that your Thai-resource is gone but I'm sure you'll get another one soon enough. Japanese intl students seem to be scarce on the other hand, these days!
Avatar 1:19pm
Jason Elbogen:

[Sorry for all the deadair/messups.]
Avatar 1:20pm
Mayuko:

@Rich thanks for bringing me up-to-date. I was totally behind this tech glitch conversation going on the drummer circle this week. Maybe I'll just play all glitchy music tomorrow and pretend whatever happens is part of the show.
  1:24pm
Martinibomb:

The Dead Air Fresheners new band name

Hi everyone, hi Jason. Just heard bits and pieces today. I heard you saying that this was a strange show. Well, mine will probably fill just in line with that...
  1:51pm
Martinibomb:

Sorry for your troubles today Jason.
Avatar 1:59pm
Mayuko:

Thanks Jason!
Avatar 2:00pm
Thibault:

Thank you for the show Jason, even though it was truncated it was great!
Avatar 2:01pm
Mr Fab:

Thanks jason, i loved what I heard! Stay tuned for Jan da man.
