I remember going to Irving Plaza for a triple bill many moons ago:
Joe “King” Carrasco and the Crowns
The dBs
Marshall Crenshaw
No one knew who who Crenshaw was, but he was great! I assumed it was the first time he played live in NYC. I contacted him a few years back, and he confirmed that it was his debut performance here.

Ray Columbus was a Kiwi Mike. Had big hits in New Zealand as Ray Columbus & The Invaders - "Till We Kissed" and "She's A Mod". Grew up listening to them but never saw them live.

Sorry not Australian. Funnily enough there was a NZ band back in the day called "The Pleazers" Cheers.

I think I was 12 or 13 when my big sis brought home the first Steppenwolf LP. I was listening to the Beach Boys, the Monkees, AM radio (all great stuff mind you) but this was indeed *heavy*. And a little frightening, And "Sookie Sookie" just seemed nasty though I had no idea why. Which intrigued me to say the least!
