Just a reminder for those in the UK that it's the Leigh-on-Sea Folk Festival this weekend. I recommend Ex Easter Island Head and Diamond Family Archive, both playing this evening.

welcome adrian elaine in mpls. Fredericks: imagining, though I hear the ghost of that riff.
Avatar 6:55am

Moby Grape was a great rock band in the sixties. This Song was written by Skip Spence who made a great solo record.

TDK60:

Morning Planeteers. See a mention of Moby Grape above. Great band, especially the first album. Tiny traces of folk among the clanging guitars (similar to Buffalo Springfield?)
Avatar 7:29am
spamoni:

Moby Grape was a San Francisco based band and I got to see them when I was hitchhiking the country in 1971 I believe the broke up in 1973 due to poor management who was ripping them off.
  7:32am
Andrew in Etobicoke:

A belated Good Morning Jeffrey and all other Planeteers.
Avatar 7:33am
Zoot:

Saw Moby Grape with BB King at the Fillmore East. Two great guitar players.
Avatar 7:34am
TDK60:

..interesting to have realized over years the traces of folk in rock, all the way back, early Elvis, Everly Bros., Dylan, Beatles on "I'll Be Back" etc. // Moby Grape's "20 Granite Creek" has two fine cuts: "Horse Out In The Rain" and "Apocalypse" that have a jangle sound (sorta like Son Volt later?)
Avatar 7:46am
Zoot:

I’m lucky to have been around in the sixties to hear Bob Gibson,Fred Neil,Patrick Sky,Dave Van Ronk,Eric Von Schmidt,Tim Buckley,Tim Hardin, and oh yeah a guy named Bob Dylan.
  7:47am
Cooh John:

Good morning Jeffrey and fellow planeteers. Last day of vacation so I slept in. Missed some good stuff but more good stuff to come. Thanks for all rhe good stuff.
Avatar 7:48am
TDK60:

Some of those '60s Bay Area hippy musicians started out in the folk scene. Jerry Garcia, Marty Balin. 1st tune on Quicksilver Messenger Service's 1st LP is "Pride Of Man" by folky Hamilton Camp. (didactic for early morn..)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48am

greetings Andrew in Etobicoke, TDK60, Cooh John
