I was hypnotized by the last track played by Otis....

I'm giving you all Fair warning...

Martinibomb:

I was hypnotized too. for some reason my web browser also started playing a Damu the Fudgemunk 14min track behind that and the stuff you're playing now and it was awesome. I might have to use the archives and recreate/record it for my show next week.

Some long tracks today. So, get your walkies and sandwich making ready!
Avatar 6:05pm
Mr Fab:

I'll want to hear that mix, MB!

Martinibomb:

Any idea who any of the voices are? This Triumph of man sounds familiar

Martinibomb:

I was just painting my cat when it said something about man painting animals hahh

One of zillions of pieces narrated by Peter Thomas. I just did a search on him and, sadly, he died in 2016 at the age of 91. Hell of a ride!!

I think I have this. I should see if there are credits in this. Mine's still in its shipping envelope and everything.

Oh, Peter Thomas. Of course!

Martinibomb:

Oh right Peter Thomas he did Nova and bunch of stuff. I think he's still alive

It's an impressive little EP. A gatefold 7" with a little book.
I wonder if it wasn't the inspiration for the Santa Dog EP, which was also modeled on an insurance thing and mailed out to random people.

Don-O:

M. Bomb, I'm afraid he died in 2016
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm

He's also the voice on the Everything You Need To Know To Operate A CB Radio LP

..."penetrates"...huh-huh-huh....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm

Not to be confused with How To CB by Leif Jensen.
Avatar 6:28pm
Don-O:

That must be a sub-genre in record collecting: CB radio LPs!....especially from the 70's
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm
Rich in Washington:

Probably my first ever weird, non-music LPs I ever bought was that How To CB record, out of a closeout bin of my local drugstore when I was a kid. I still have it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm
Rich in Washington:

and the first record I ever digitally sampled with my wonky Akai sampler. I should dig that crap up. It's actually embarrassing how primitive it was.
Avatar 6:34pm
Don-O:

Buying records at a drug store?! Well, I should be finger pointing as Thrifty Drugs use to do that, too.
Avatar 6:40pm
Mr Fab:

I have the Shirley and squirrely album which is both the Chipmunks rip-off and a CB exploitation record
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm
Rich in Washington:

Our local Hi-School Pharmacy (a now defunct PNW chain) used to have a little bin of records that were entirely cut-out records. Also 8-tracks and cassettes. Just really random things no one would want.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm
Rich in Washington:

I have this random memory of going into that store just to gaze at the soundtrack album for Logan's Run (and half naked Jenny Agutter) and just imagine what the movie was like. It sadly didn't measure up to my imagining of it.

There are many other 'Sounds Of The Air' tracks, but this one I played is the shortest.

I dig the sinister backing music.

I can't help but hear We're All Bozos On This Bus when I hear these ride through recordings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm
Rich in Washington:

god. I just got a massive haul of Firesign ephemera and I haven't had time to listen to a minute of it. That and Phil P's audiobook.
Avatar 6:55pm
Mr Fab:

Did ppl really pronounce 'reptile' as 'rep-tull'?
Avatar 6:55pm
Don-O:

How is Phil P.'s book? I been too financially busy to get it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm
Rich in Washington:

As my friend Ralph Coulsen said, after we'd interview Peter and Phil 'how do they put that guy to bed at night? With a tranquilizer gun?"
It's good! He's got an amazing memory. It's pretty amusing, really.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm

Despite being a busy hollywood guy, he's really down to earth and really nice.
