Favoriting February 6, 2019: Hi-Waisted Modernists #010 - C-Beams Glitter In The Dark
On this week's Hi-Waisted Modernists, I take you into the farthest reaches of space - circa 1999. Combining the "Space: 1999" soundtrack music from iconic British composer and arranger Barry Gray and voiceover from a "Fragments of Fear" original short story narrated by the equally iconic Richard Gladman. Rick was my collaborator, partner-in-crime, head cheerleader, bestie, baby brother, and more, and "Space: 1999" was his favourite show of all time and also his safe space growing up. This episode is dedicated to him (2nd June 1967 - 6th February 2016)

'The Full Circle: The Tribe" was very exotic! Reminds me: this past weekend the Fab family went down to Trader Sam's Tiki Room in the Disneyland Hotel (did NOT go to Disneyland) - stiff drinks, chanting, bell ringing, indoor rainstorm fx, animatronic tikis. Very interactive awesomeness.

This place is a new bar/restaurant separate from, but def inspired by, the actual Enchanted Tiki Room in Disneyland.
It's easier to, well, go to the moon, than to deal with the actual Disneyland nowadays.

It fascinates me the year passes and how people literally go to Disneyland for dinner. One of my daughter's online friends does that :-) I just remember how much of a big deal it was driving down from Vancouver! lol.

Well, it's freaking $25 just to park your car! And now a whopping $135 admission to the park itself. But if you just go to a restaurant, they'll validate your parking for free. So, yeah, just going for dinner is all we want to do.

plus they have to spend tons of cash covering up all the people that die there every year. There used to be a zine in the 90s that collected deaths at Disneyland which was great.. documented them.

I haven't been to Disneyland in over 30 years. I don't remember now much it was because a business travel package included it. I DO remember paying 35 early 90s dollars for a hat for my then toddler son.
