Options January 15, 2019: DAVID SCHECTER of Monstrous Movie Music (Pt. 1)
Monstrous Movie Music is a CD label specializing in previously unavailable 1940s-1970s film music of the finest composers working that era even though most are virtually unknown. MMM's initial releases were "re-recordings" faithfully restored and orchestrated by the label's co-founder Kathleen Mayne, before eventually releasing original soundtracks as well, all with striking covers painted by horror artist Robert Aragon and science fiction illustrator Vincent DiFate and meticulously researched liner notes by owner David Schecter who discusses the label's history.

You can find more stuff on monster movie music here:
monstermoviemusic.blogspot.com
You'll have to go way back to the first couple of years of the blog, though. They've moved away from focusing on the music itself....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:16pm Linda Lee:

just fabulous
Avatar Tue. 1/15/19 7:19pm dale:

great shot of the guest as a kid!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:19pm Linda Lee:

may gosh look at that child! he *defnitely* loves monsters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:25pm Richard S:

James Horner started off providing music for Roger Corman's New World Pictures. Les Baxter is another great composer who made music for low-budget monster/sci-fi films.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Like stock footage - stock music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:34pm Tommy in Neversink:

The Monolith Monsters is one of my favorite movies
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:35pm Tommy in Neversink:

This is really interesting
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:35pm Richard S:

Bad physics and chemistry in there, Tommy, but still a cool movie. How do you defeat something that isn't alive?
Avatar Tue. 1/15/19 7:38pm dale:

giant gila monster was a good one too - beatniks in hot rods.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:39pm Richard S:

I wonder how many movies were made because someone did up a cool poster for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...the giant VanMorrison was truly intimidating...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:40pm Tommy in Neversink:

Richard S. my problem with it is wouldn't all the federal agencies , National Guard , army etc..have been called in to the area if something was threatened our existence.. That aspect was so unrealistic...but I still enjoy it
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:42pm Tommy in Neversink:

threatening not threatened
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:42pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thing is...a Movie doesn't have to be 'good' to symbolically resonate w/ current anxieties...
Avatar Tue. 1/15/19 7:44pm dale:

picture of herman stein is in front of the rod taylor time machine - did he score that as well?
Avatar Tue. 1/15/19 7:45pm JakeGould:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:46pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Tue. 1/15/19 7:47pm White Michael:

this is super cool
Avatar Tue. 1/15/19 7:48pm JakeGould:

The D-bag movie would be “Terrifying… Monsters from a Lost Age! The Molé People”
Avatar Tue. 1/15/19 7:49pm JakeGould:

Ooops, it should have been “Terrifying… Monsters from Across the Southern Border! THE MOLÉ PEOPLE”
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 1/15/19 7:51pm Richard S:

LOL!
Avatar Tue. 1/15/19 7:51pm JakeGould:
