I remember an ex of mine and I went into a Rite-Aid the day after Valentines Day and we were going to a movie so we stocked up on 75% off candy and the total was like 52 cents, and he said "Happy Valentines Day baby!" and the cashier just looked up with this disgust at his cheapness. It was funny.

@kimzilla I remember a Christmas in Texas that was warm enough for me to wear shorts and set up a lemonade stand in the back yard. I guess I was trying to make the best of it but I hated warm winter days, always a disappointment.

Also, we were talking about "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus" recently. The idea that this kid is watching Santa kiss his mom, and not knowing it's really his dad, and kind of gleefully declaring "what a laugh" it would be if daddy had only seen. Creepy!

I remember waking up late at night and seeing both my mom in the kitchen and stuffed stockings in the living room, so I assumed Santa was out at his sleigh getting stuff, maybe they had chatted in passing while doing their tasks. Didn't occur to me to think it was evidence of Santa's non-existence.

What I heard about La Befana is that the Magi stopped at her place (to take a breather and use the bathroom, I guess). She asked about why they were traveling, and they told her and invited her to come along. She declined; she had some housework to do - she'd catch up with them later. So now she flies around on Jan. 6, dropping off presents because she doesn't know which child is Jesus, and she wants to cover all her bases.
