In Real Life is a weekly show hosted by Emily and Kimzilla on WFMU. In each episode, Kim and Emily follow their own curiosity to interview people on about a variety of themes, getting the real scoop and learning about the real people behind each topic. Previous WFMU aired episodes include topics such as circus performers, taxicab drivers, bartender therapy, alien abductions, nudism and so much more.

This week: Hell or High Water. A Look back on the time when a hurricane knocked WFMU off the air… but not the messageboard!
Twelve years ago Hurricane Superstorm Sandy battered the East Coast and the WFMU studios in Jersey City, NJ. WFMU was knocked off the air for almost a week, but dedication, ingenuity and creativity prevailed as listeners tuned into events on the WFMU.org message boards. In the meantime several DJ’s were able to set up remote studios to bring the station back to life. Tune in as the gIRLs on Fire recounts those events with exclusive interviews with Ken Freedman, Clay Pigeon, Therese, Dan Bodah, Doug Schulkind Jeff Moore and Scott Williams.

I kinda feel it is my duty as a WFMU listener to stay tuned around the clock to make sure everyone is alright at the station. (Not that that's of any real help, but...) Right now am reduced to checking streams every so often, between naps

I guess it shouldn't be hard conceptually, in that AIUI what comes from a running disk now is a type of packets, giving any source of packets as an address should be similar.

WFMU is currently off the air, being in a power cut in Jersey City. Check the WFMU frontpage for updates. The WFMU servers are far from NY/NJ so this playlist is active. Clay likely has no power himself, and is at the station waiting for it to come back.
