Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:02pm Parq:

This Aretha reading of Gershwin is a knockout.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:03pm northguineahills:

I constantly have dreams of subways that transverse rural areas from city to city.

David, Kurt played your outro, "Taking the A Train earlier".
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:04pm David D:

Hey Parq and NGH...
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:05pm David D:

Someday we'll get those subways.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:10pm Snortley:

The A and S trains go through a nature preserve on the way to and from the Rockaways:

Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:12pm David D:

Thanks, Snortley!
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:12pm northguineahills:

Yep, taken the train and biked through Gateway Nature Preserve.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:13pm David D:

Looks like a beautiful area, and only a subway ride away...
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:21pm Parq:

Never been to the Gateway preserve, but have friends who like to birdwatch there. It's on my "really oughta some day" list.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:26pm Parq:

Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:27pm David D:

Mais oui!
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:28pm northguineahills:

I've been watching a 14th c drama based in Barca, and damn, Catalunyan is nearly impossible to understand, Portuguese is easier for me to understand (and I can listen to most Latin American movie/series en espanol w/ no problem.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:31pm David D:

Well there you go...
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:40pm David D:

Please let me know if you hear anything different in the sound - since it sounds different to me.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:49pm northguineahills:

I can tell your mic is different, the level of this Gerswin is a little low...
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:50pm David D:

Thanks, NGH, I'll be switching to a different mic, let's see what happens...
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 4:54pm northguineahills:

the mic was fine, I can just tell it's not your usual one.
  Tue. 9/25/18 4:59pm Dean:

Last night in a tribute to The Residents, Jesse Jarnow inadvertently also recognized Gershwin's anniversary during his show. He played The Residents' take on Rhapsody in Blue.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:00pm Stanley:

Hi David. I made it.
BTW your voice sounds extra 'rich' on the new mic.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:01pm northguineahills:

Oh, I was there for that, Dean, I knew there was something else I was supposed to mention to David woofmoo related....
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:02pm David D:

Thanks, Dean, so I guess I'll leave that one to his archives...
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:02pm David D:

And thanks Stanley, I'm testing out all the mics in the studio I rarely use here at Radio Blau. I liked this last one better myself.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:11pm Brian in UK:

Hello David.
.......is this thing on!
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:12pm David D:

Hi Brian, I sure hope so!
  Tue. 9/25/18 5:14pm Dean:

Just occurs to me that The Residents' take might have been of Sun Ra's take on Rhapsody in Blue...
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:16pm David D:

Theirs is oddly spacier, I'd say.
  Tue. 9/25/18 5:20pm Dean:

Indeed. For me their ouevre's apex of spaciness is their take on Hank Williams' "Kawliga." That one's just weird.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:29pm Brian in UK:

Prime Coltrane period for me.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:33pm coelacanth∅:

hello David and all
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:34pm David D:

Hello Coelacanth∅
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:34pm David D:

Brian: Yes, he really hits it here.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:44pm northguineahills:

My prime Coltrane period is his last three years, or, after he met Alice.
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:45pm Carmichael:

Dang, guess I just missed Django, oh well. David, have you heard any Bireli Lagrene?
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:49pm David D:

Hey Carmichael - coming up next mic break!
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:51pm Carmichael:

Whoa, that's what I call service!
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 5:54pm David D:

Ah, this one is brother Ira's but not George's. Well, as long as it stays in the family...
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 6:02pm Carmichael:

Thanks, David!
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 6:08pm David D:

My pleasure!
Avatar Tue. 9/25/18 6:43pm doctorjazz:

And thanks, Tamar!
