i'm early enough to get a good seat! i hope you have the Nat-Geo collection from the 70s, it's a keeper. good morning!

Sem:

Hello, Ms. M., annie.

Once you've had a good long look at Scotland, you might consider New Scotland, Nova Scotia, specifically, Cape Breton. The physical similarities of the terrain are amazing. But not magic, when Europe split off of North America (Pangea), part of Nova Scotia ended up in what is now Scotland. For true.

JuStUrMoM:

You’re making me think of starting to pack...
  12:08pm
elwyn:

hello everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm
Meghan:

Hey there everyone! I've actually started packing already. The temperature is 20 degrees cooler than here right now, so it's not all the same clothes!

Scotland - where the men are men and the sheep run scared!
  12:12pm
elwyn:

i am going to riot if we don't get The Proclaimers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm
Meghan:

Elwyn, there is 2 weeks of this.... so it *might* be next week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm
Parq:

Never been to Scotland, but I agree that the Cape Breton section of Nova Scotia (the east end of the island) is well worth seeing. We stayed in a cabin on a hillside with a commanding view of the valley on the north side of the peninsula. Magic.
Avatar 12:14pm
Dave B:

I sent you that Martyn Bennett this AM. Don't forget APB!
Avatar 12:14pm
Dave B:

I just booked November vacation. 1 week in Tokyo and then a week in Hong Kong
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm
Meghan:

Nice Dave! I got the Martyn Bennett... put down APB in the post on Facebook so I don't forget!
Avatar 12:19pm
Dave B:

I'll send you the APB I have...
  12:19pm
elwyn:

so I only get to riot in at least one week.

Spiderman comes out on PS4 tomorrow. I want to see how well Evil Brady's apartment block is represented in it.

Elwyn - did they film in my neighborhood? I can't recall.

In the 60s? Take along you tie-dye and be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.
  12:28pm
elwyn:

not sure how the game developers created Manhatten. your place is close to a landmark or two so it should be covered.
  12:46pm
elwyn:

will you eat haggis?
Avatar 12:48pm

They like a wee drink in Scotland
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm
doctorjazz:

Hi underwater dwellers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Meghan:

I will definitely partake in having a wee dram here and there.... And if haggis is offered, I'll totally try it. Why not?
Avatar 12:55pm
Dave B:

Who's drinking wee? That's DISGUSTING!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm
Meghan:

hahahahahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Sem:

It figures the allegedly tight-fisted Scots could come up w/ a measure like a wee dram. One eighth of an (imperial) ounce.

Scottish humour runs to things like inventing haggis and calling it food, and golf, a game played with implements ill-suited to the purpose.
Avatar 12:57pm
Dave B:

And the caber toss....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm
Meghan:

If there was mini golf at St. Andrews.... I'll be all over that!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Parq:

You should watch the Bugs Bunny 'toon "My Bunny Lies Over the Ocean". It will prepare you for Scotland and Scots. Well no, it won't actually, but you'll have fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm
Meghan:

hahaha, true, it will be fun nonetheless!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm

@Dave B.: DIY hernia making.

20 degrees cooler sounds nice. It's so hot up here today that they sent the school kids home early.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm

My cousin once pulled me aside (at a funeral!) to tell me about the theory that the Loch Ness Monster was actually a demon conjured by Aleister Crowley, but he was called upon to the British Psi-Ops program before he could send it back. I WANT TO BELIEVE.

One of my ancestors, the Duke of Argyle, supported the rebellion, and was rendered landless afterwards. His son then went to now Canada, and his grandson the went to Michigan during the Civil War.

Bis came to my attention when my kid was young, since they did the cheerfully noisy closing theme for the Powerpuff Girls show.

Scots Wha Hae. Back from holidays in Portugal and checking in.
For the record, Sem, whisky is served by the quarter gill (35ml), up here, otherwise known as a 'nip'. A 'dram' just means a small glass of that wondrous fluid.

I have a friend who also just got back from Portugal! It's the happening spot

Didn't Madonna buy some property in Lisbon last year?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm

Lisbon, for sure, is kicking. Being built on hills, all over are 'miradouros', viewpoints over the city and cool places to hang out in the evenings.
