The 90s band Catherine does a good 'grungey' cover of "Every Christian Lion Hearted Man Will Show You' Darcy, from Smashing Pumpkins, boyfriend at the time played w/ said band.

OMG, did the Bee Gees die?
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:40pm

I'll have to look for that. The Three O'Clock used to do In My Own Time.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:41pm

Cool. I've got a big job scheduled for those dates but we can probably work out a time.

Love this Bee Gees set! I only figured out recently that Bee Gees stands for B-rothers G-ibb!

Doctorjazz:

Hey, rw!

Yeah, and for me it means packing up my kid and driving west for a while. Let's play it by ear, i.e., by email.

Great album

Dean:

I do believe part of this album was recorded here in Berkeley.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:04pm
Funky16Corners:

I did not know that!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:04pm
Funky16Corners:

They actually had a minor hit off of this record with Brim Full of Asha
  11:05pm
rw:

ngh, I was just walking my dog wearing shorts and sandals. Not to make you jealous or anything. Just sayin'. On a related note I ran into my neighbor the other morning. He was moving his marijuana plants outside into the daylight. I guess they go into the garage for gro-light at night and outside for sunlight during the day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm
Parq:

Brim Full has one of the best pop videos ever. And yes, I love the dickens out of this whole album. Irwin sometimes uses that herky-jerky flute instrumental as talkover music.
  11:07pm
Dean:

Minor hit? Gets regular play in these parts. In fact, I'm wrong. Was recorded entirely in England, but songs are associated with towns in the notes. "Brimful" is associated with Berkeley, for some reason.
  11:07pm
rw:

I kind of got sick of that Cornershop record when it was a hit but it sounds pretty great now.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:08pm
Funky16Corners:

At the time, a hit in the broader sense. Not sure how big it was in the UK but my impressionw as that it was strictly an 'alternative' hit over here
  11:10pm
rw:

Parq, Brim Full vid is now on my "to do" list.

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:32pm

Yeah, the fidelity is a little off on that (slightly rough 45) bit Oliver really belts it out
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:32pm
Funky16Corners:

One of the more unusual covers of that song

Brian in UK:

Larry
Great to hear some John Stewart. Draft Age put me in mind of this album by John Train (I know using Phil Ochs alterego name) really Jon Houlon. His album Mesopotamia Blues is a good stab at trying to put the Iraq war in context shall we say. Going right back to Kipling and WW1 when Iraq was first screwed up. He covers Draft Age amongst other songs, original and otherwise.
