Trad Attack!
Turbo-Charged Estonian Roots

Hear this show now: | Add or read comments

Can a bagpipe, folk-whistle and jaw-harp wielding band singing ancient village songs storm to the top of the charts? Well it happened in Estonia when Trad Attack! exploded onto the scene three years ago.

Since then Trad Attack! has won 14 music awards with their dynamic roots-rocking sound, blending the traditional instruments with guitar, electronics and driving beats. The band toured the States recently in support of an excellent sophomore album, Kullakarva / Shimmer Gold. They also very active on facebook - follow their quest to play in every country on the planet at

Massive thanks to Trad Attack! touring engineer Otto-Karl Vendt and WFMU's own Gil Shuster, plus Tom Pryor and Juliana Voloz for setting things up from afar. Photo above by Kalev Lilleorg I; photo below (from the WOMAD festival in Chile) by Silver Tõnisson.
