PJ:

Nice segue, Jesse. I wonder if AP had heard Tom Ze when he wrote Melt the Guns?
  12:05am
BriJet:

Meow I love XTC! Hi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10am
jj.:

thx, pj! and no idea, but seemed like those 2 tracks were born to go together!

Vincent Nifigance:

Shit, BBC just reported Tom Petty died of a cardiac arrest.
  12:16am
Dean:

Just about the only Eno and Byrne I can stomach, this album.

The Petty news: there has been some back-pedaling. True or no?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 12:18am
Ken From Hyde Park:

Ah, sad to hear that, but he's no longer suffering. RIP
  12:18am
zenkoan:

True, now. His family has issued a statement confirming that he died tonight. : (

Love this set.

Vincent Nifigance:

I think if bbc have committed it must have been confirmed.
  12:21am
Dean:

So sorry, so sad. Too, too young.

Great tunes!!

One of my brothers worships Petty. He's broken tonight. I like him, in that I consider Petty his generation's John Fogerty, which is a good thing, even though I don't want to voluntarily put on in my music at home.
  12:29am
Dean:

I remember strolling Sunset Blvd. c.1977 with a buddy. TP&TH were playing the Whisky. I thought no, we oughta get home (east side of LA). Saw them later at Santa Monica Civic, but I shoulda gone to that Whisky show.
Avatar 12:34am
Scraps:

My brother saw him like two weeks ago. Certainly wasn't slowing down, or not much

Seems like they're all leaving.

When you said "dedication" my WFMU dropped out! (Still gone....)

Frow Show!

Yeah, sad news about Tom Petty. Always liked the guy's music. As a celebrity he seemed cool too.

Dean, What other Eno Byrne is there? All I can think of is that black Talking Heads LP. I like that one.

Scraps! Good to see you again.
Avatar 12:45am
Scraps:

thanks rw!
  12:45am
Dean:

@rw: I believe they did a follow-up to MLITBOG, but Eno also produced Remain In Light, didn't he? My point is that I don't appreciate much of anything either of them has done.
Avatar 12:50am
Scraps:

Wow, the first three Eno albums are incredible to me.
  12:51am
rw:

Dean, Oh, yeah. Personally I was never a huge fan of Byrne but always had a degree of respect. Big fan of Eno though. Not so much his work in the '80s and beyond but I still love almost everything from the '70s. It seems like that's all I listened to in high school!
  12:51am
PJ:

Scraps, you don't like Before and After Science? That's my favorite (particularly side 2) after Here Come the Warm Jets.
  12:56am
PJ:

Jesse, I've never heard Bill MacKay & Ryley Walker, but this is a great song.
  1:00am
Dean:

There's one song on Before and After Science I enjoy.

I wanted to appreciate Talking Heads. Loved--still do--Love Goes to Building on Fire, but everything else was bland. Back then, '76, '77, '78 and on, I had a hard time getting them. The problem, I think, is Byrne.
  1:01am
Dean:

"Here He Comes." That's a great song.
Avatar 1:02am
Scraps:

I like Before and After Science, but it's an A- where the first three are A+.

Taking Tiger Mountain was for a time my favorite rock album.
  1:04am
Dean:

For a time my favorite rock album was DAMNED DAMNED DAMNED. Since then, I don't bother with favorite rock albums.
  1:04am
rw:

My son is 15 yrs old and recently getting into music from when I was about his age. His comment about the Talking Heads was, "Too much talking".
  1:05am
Dean:

@rw: QED.
Avatar 1:06am

Talking Heads were great, but when they broke up nothing Byrne did after that didn't interest me.

Groucho:

This is why I put other stations on to sleep to. It's 6am here in the U.K. And I'm woken up by clattering metal. Sounds like 20 filing cabinets falling down some stairs
Avatar 1:09am
Scraps:

I bother with favorite rock albums, at least I recognize in my head that one of my favorite albums is "better" than any other. Can't help it.

grtyvr:

what is next? Hann Bennik?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12am

groucho, i think it was only 16 filing cabinets. check your wifi signal maybe?
  1:13am
grtyvr:

And who did the cover of Dylan a few songs back. Not in the play list
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am
jj.:

the dylan cover is by alex campbell. it's there, right below chris hillman.
Avatar 1:13am
Scraps:

Please, yes Bennik
  1:14am
PJ:

Talking Heads were fantastic up through Speaking in Tongues. DB's eponymous record is really good, too. And I like that he still goes out to listen to all kinds of music.
  1:14am
grtyvr:

Ah, there it is!
  1:16am
grtyvr:

Oh! Mis non! Feelings is a great album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am

i might've burned myself out on most of the talking heads discography, but everything through speaking in tongues was way important to me. dig some of the byrne solo jams, but have to be in the right mood. the eno song-based albums i can still listen to all day every day, though. those songs still jump into my head unbidden fairly often.
  1:19am
grtyvr:

Scraps, seen him live?
  1:20am

Bennik? He is a blast!
Avatar 1:28am

Yep! But not in years. And probably not going to, now. But yeah, it was excellent.
