Ridgewood Radio features live sets by adventurous bands and experimental musicians, recorded at clubs and galleries running along the L-train corridor through Brooklyn and Queens from Williamsburg to the Rockaways. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the blossoming Ridgewood neighborhood, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Greetings James! Welcome!

I love this song so much
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 3:04pm weinstein:

And now I mouse it up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 7/26/17 3:09pm doctorjazz:

Hi David, Ruth, and Ridgeword visitors.
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 3:09pm fred:

Into The Night is another great track
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 3:12pm weinstein:

Doctor! Always a pleasure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 7/26/17 3:13pm doctorjazz:

This Mazzoli/Monk is lovely.
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 3:14pm weinstein:

That whole chapter with Lynch, Badalamenti, and Cruise totally grabbed me. Its years ago but my affection has stuck. Has not aged badly!
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 3:20pm weinstein:

I wish I had been at the Mazzoli concert because she gets a lot out of a small ensemble. Who is doing what exactly? Cleverly constructed mutlitasking I guess.
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 3:33pm listener james from westwood:

Quite an amazing piece!
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 3:47pm fred:

Sorry, I was away for a while, sucked into a rabbit hole by a piece on The Awl about Schlager. The hole opened with a reference to "99 Luftballons"
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 3:49pm weinstein:

Understandable. Now we'll try to suck you in another direction....
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 3:54pm fred:

This is indeed delightful
Avatar Wed. 7/26/17 3:55pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Getting here late today, just finishing setup for today at 5... weinstein, you'll be in it again.
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 3:57pm fred:

@Kenzo: I'll be listening for the last time ever. Vacation over at the end of the week
Avatar Wed. 7/26/17 3:59pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Oh fred! Do they let you use the archives?
Avatar Wed. 7/26/17 4:00pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@weinstein: I want you to be the official voice of Ken's Last Ever. I'll trade you!
Avatar Wed. 7/26/17 4:02pm northguineahills:

I've never had a chance to see Meridith Monk. It still bothers me to this day.
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:02pm fred:

It's more like can I find the time for the archives? I'm saying last ever the way you do, though. Until next week, but no guarantee
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:02pm weinstein:

@Kenzo (blushing)
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:05pm weinstein:

Hey Fred is that because your (euro) bedtime changes now?
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:07pm geezerette:

This is lovely.
Hi David & Ruth, fellow visitors of Ridgewood.
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:08pm weinstein:

I'm trending toward the soothing toward aren't I, Gzette?
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:08pm fred:

@weinstein: it should, but I'm probably not wise enough to act on that. Few shows until September, so you might be stuck with me
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:09pm weinstein:

*today, aargh spellschmuck
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:11pm fred:

Somehow I hope you'll play the full Into The Night track before the show is over
Avatar Wed. 7/26/17 4:12pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever... Wed 5-7pm GTDR):

@fred Now I want a vacation. I don't have time for this show either! Last ever, this week!
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:13pm geezerette:

David, you are, and that's more than fine with me.
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:16pm weinstein:

Ha Fred! I'm planning Rockin' Back Inside My Heart! If I don't jabber too much and burn up minutes....
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:16pm fred:

I managed to get everyone at work on board with my yearly Sonic Protest time off. That's all I need (earlier notice of the festival days would be useful, but not required)
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:19pm weinstein:

Cool, Fred. It's good to know that in the building where you work people are awake!
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:20pm fred:

@weinstein: Then shut up and segue from that into The World Spins. That would be chilling
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:25pm weinstein:

And even crazier... I saw the Lynch/Cruise/Angelo 1989 mini-opera at BAM, Industrial Symphony #1. So you know I was in deep on this one...
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:27pm fred:

I remember seeing footage from that. Good but the weirdness seemed forced to me. Then again, I wasn't there
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:29pm weinstein:

You assess correctly. It was super trendy. But the wow moments were great fun.
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:43pm fred:

Maybe you'd like Honji Wang and Sebastien Ramirez. Interesting Korean/German/Spanish/French choreographers coming from hip-hop who have a lot to bring to the table
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:45pm weinstein:

Thanks. I do find that people who come out of the clubs or dance music and wandered into experimentation fabulously interesting.
Avatar Wed. 7/26/17 4:53pm northguineahills:

I'm not familar w/ Anna Clyne or Mario Diaz de Leon, thanks.
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:53pm weinstein:

You will run into them again, for sure.
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:54pm weinstein:

Forgive me, dear Fred, for I know not what I do.
Avatar Wed. 7/26/17 4:54pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever... Wed 5-7pm GTDR):

I've turned Ruth into an audio component illustrator and obviously stained Kenzo. The rest of you, bless your lovely hearts.
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:57pm fred:

Did Ruth sign on to this?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 7/26/17 4:57pm doctorjazz:

Thanks for the fine music, David and Ruth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 7/26/17 4:57pm Stanley:

Well, I've enjoyed this 'carefully constructed stuff'.
Thanks David.
Avatar Wed. 7/26/17 4:58pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever... Wed 5-7pm GTDR):

weinstein, very awesome! Hear that clip next week...
Avatar    Wed. 7/26/17 4:58pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks, y'all!
