"Effluvium" an unpleasant or harmful odour or discharge? Nice
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 12:04am Aitch:

Especially as they're at their zenith....

  Mon. 7/3/17 12:13am Hippie Jesus:

Good evening from the 7th Heaven. If anyone is taking bets, my money is on hearing some Neil Young before the show is over.
  Mon. 7/3/17 12:18am Greg:

Oh boy...we're gonna be in for a treat if you're already playing some Agitation Free. Can't wait to see what tracks become unveiled.
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 12:22am Tome:

the archives , ( NONE compare to this place of course not even CLOSE ! ) 4/27/2015 live Neil could not have been done better !
  Mon. 7/3/17 12:23am zenkoan:

There may also be a strict legal requirement that the Grateful Dead be heard on this show each week.

Ladies and gentlemen, your Dead has arrived!
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 12:41am Jeff Conklin:

Always better to HEAR Agitation Free than SEE it but that's alright ;)
  Mon. 7/3/17 12:42am zenkoan:

I watched all of the very lengthy Long Strange Trip doc last week. Well worth watching, though damn sad too to witness (again) Garcia's decline in plain sight...
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 12:43am Jennifer_PNW:

The complete annotated Grateful Dead lyrics by David Dodd notes that Hunter remembers the 1949 flood in Vanport, Washington while writing this song. Must be a typo, thought Vanport was in Oregon.

Always amazed at your encyclopedic knowledge of GD esoterica @Jennifer_PNW
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 12:51am Jennifer_PNW:

One more Hunter quote, "I followed this cat out to -- I believe it was Neptune -- and there were rainbows across Neptune, and cats marching across the rainbow."
  Mon. 7/3/17 12:51am Hippie Jesus:

@Tome - that NY show was the best!
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 12:51am Jennifer_PNW:

@ocean, no encyclopedic knowledge, just looking a a book from the library.
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 12:51am Jeff Conklin:

Anybody have their Deadbase handy? Wondering if this was the only HCS > China Cat they ever did....
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 12:54am Tome:

I only recall Europs '72 version this one is far better...

I'd never heard any Dead until I chanced upon Jeff's old show Bring Out Your Dead a very long time ago. Been quite a ride

My original copy of Steamhammer / Montain is on Metronome (Sswedish label andr distributer on Brain Revords).
Following Discogs the Brain copis are from the early 2000s.

Hello Jeff!

love this already
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/3/17 1:08am JakeGould:

Hey! I don’t comment much here, but on vinyl… Yeah! I’m like 100% digital now but bought a basic turntable to listen to bargain vinyl when I can score it… But the irony of ironies? Someone in my building has a CB radio setup really close to me. So sometimes when I listen to vinyl, I hear the equivalent of the adults from “Peanuts” talking.

And this is despite me soldering capacitors in the diodes on the power supply; that helped lessen the interference but it still comes up.
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 1:10am Jeff Conklin:

Records are fantastic. I love them, I will always buy them but I'm never spending more than 20 dollars on something I can easily hear elsewhere. But hey thats just me. That's crazy about the radio interference! Who uses CBs??
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/3/17 1:12am JakeGould:

@JeffConklin: Who uses CBs? That’s what I said. I live in a weird part of Brooklyn where there are no antennas on the roof… But for this one guy’s CB antenna… And there are ex-cops in the neighborhood so it’s like their “cultural hobby” thing I cannot fight. Decent rent but shit…
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 1:13am Jeff Conklin:

Not gonna lie, I think its pretty cool this guy is using one hahaha.
  Mon. 7/3/17 1:16am zenkoan:

this is some hypnotic shit right here...in a good way
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 1:17am Aitch:

Got one on my boat, have to. Over.
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 1:20am Jeff Conklin:

When a group of friends and I travelled up and down the East Coast seeing an American rock band in the 90s, we communicated between the two cars in the caravan via CB radios
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 1:20am Jennifer_PNW:

This is awesome, Jeff! The artwork on the bandcamp page is beautiful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/3/17 1:23am JakeGould:

CBs are cool. But these dinks near me are as boring as hell. What I have made out is basically them just endlessly comparing notes on their setups and saying “One two three four… One two three four… One two three four…”

Comedy = tragedy + distance… So hey! Enjoy it.
  Mon. 7/3/17 1:23am Ronny G from JV:

This song was used in courage the cowardly dog years ago I think. I'm 80% sure
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 1:28am Aitch:

This one is awesome
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/3/17 1:31am fleep:

Hypnotic
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/3/17 1:43am Fuzzy:

CB dinks 1-2-3-4ing each other and interfering with your electronics are probably running illegal overpowered setups. The FCC might be interested in checking them out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/3/17 1:45am Fuzzy:

Linear amps -- that's what they're playing with.
  Mon. 7/3/17 1:47am Mario:

Wow, Steamhammer's awesome!
Good morning Jeff & everybody

Now it's starting to scare me....
  Mon. 7/3/17 1:56am Hippie Jesus:

Breaker Breaker 19 - Mr. Conklin, what's your handle? Mine was, King Cobra. My brothers: One-Hoppin Kangaroo : ) this was late 70's / early 80's. CB's and shortwave radios are still a thing.
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 2:01am terribilia:

i might have to pause the show and play that entire song again
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 2:07am Jeff Conklin:

@Aitch: Don't be scared, Aitch.
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 2:08am Aitch:

This Randy Bishop record is the most exciting reissue in years. Thanks for turning me on to it, Jeff!

Steamhammer featured guitarists Martin Quittenton who went on to write Maggie May and You Wear it Well with Rod Stewart, and Martin Pugh of the short lived band Armageddon with The Yardbirds' Keith Relf and Captian Beyond drummer Bobby Caldwell.
  Mon. 7/3/17 2:27am Mark R.:

Roger McGuinn said in the old pass-the-hat days on the folk circuit, you never wanted to follow Richie, because he was so good, everybody would put everything they had in the hat for him, and there was nothing left for anyone else the rest of the night.
  Mon. 7/3/17 2:36am Mario:

A pretty cheap album this Willcox & Co...
Avatar Mon. 7/3/17 2:56am ocean:
