That was like a trip to the zoo, with all the sounds crunched up together.

yeah Coltrane & the Lemon Drops DO belong in the same universe
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/16/17 12:55am coelacanth∅:

this sounds like a quieter version of "dead oak" by lawrence english.
Avatar Tue. 5/16/17 12:57am jj.:

does the english track feature pedal steel? that's really the selling point for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/16/17 1:03am coelacanth∅:

it does not, and that Chuck Johnson track is truly beautiful; but if you played the 2 together i'd be surprised if the bass line didn't match nearly perfectly.
...the english track is more of an atmospheric piece (*even* more?) ...it's mostly or all synthesiser.

Howdy all! JJ you just reminded me to mention to you about the Steel Guitar Record Club. I picked up the Buddy Emmons volume which is jazz and country but there might be something that fits your pedal steel tastes. There is something like 15 releases in the club.

Avatar    Tue. 5/16/17 2:04am BEAVO:

I got to record and hang out with Red Rhodes in LA In the 80s, hell of a nice guy.
Avatar    Tue. 5/16/17 2:06am BEAVO:

He also wound a mean guitar pickup.
Avatar    Tue. 5/16/17 2:18am BEAVO:

He played the famous steel part on Don't Bogart That Joint from Easy Rider by The Fraternity Of Man
  Tue. 5/16/17 2:19am dbj:

Thats sweet. I used to fantasize about dropping out of college and learning the pedal steel.
Tue. 5/16/17 2:59am oh were strictly talking music:
