Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Avatar Fri. 5/12/17 12:26pm Jeff Golick:

@Dean: my general view on Clean Feed is that they've gots to chill. SO MANY RECORDS. But then so many are so great, and I don't know what to think. ROVA on CF is a little surprising?

I remember a cafe where the staff were told facial hair and piercing were no longer permitted, as it was "unseemly." So they all shaved off their eyebrows.
  Fri. 5/12/17 12:33pm mauri:

Evening uncle michael and the band!
  Fri. 5/12/17 12:33pm Dean:

@Jeff G.: CF is one among many labels that gots to chill, as far as I'm concerned. But what can I do about it? Buy all the releases just to show 'em? Speaking of so many records, I've been reading Fanfare lately, reviews of classical records. The box sets are nuts: Eugen Jochum on DG (42 CDs), almost complete Reger organ works (14 CDs), Michael Raucheisen German lieder recitals (66 CDs)... Maybe CF will head in that direction.
Avatar Fri. 5/12/17 12:35pm Dominick:

Yes, I was!

Avatar Fri. 5/12/17 12:36pm doctorjazz:

@Dean and Jeff; I saw that ROVA/Kaiser yesterday, maybe Bandcamp? Yup, found the email receipt, bought it yesterday in the morning, hopefully come soon. Shoulda figured you guys would notice. I'm a big fan of ROVA, and don't know that much Kaiser, but like what I've heard.
Avatar Fri. 5/12/17 12:36pm Wendy del Formaggio:

Hey Uncle Michael!
Hearing this Incredible String Band makes me realize I need to learn more about them.
Avatar Fri. 5/12/17 12:37pm doctorjazz:

(it wasn't overly expensive, $13 + $3 shipping)
Avatar Fri. 5/12/17 12:38pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Fri. 5/12/17 12:39pm Jeff Golick:

@doc: though the digital edition (which I prefer these days) is $999. (They don't have the rights to sell a digital edition, is what I'm guessing. Clean Feed does not maintain their own Bandcamp page. ROVA is just selling the CD direct.)
  Fri. 5/12/17 12:41pm johnk77:

thanks @tele67
aka jimmie logsdon
  Fri. 5/12/17 12:42pm Dean:

@doc: Henry Kaiser travels in many circles. He has a great electric Miles ensemble with Wadada Leo Smith and at least one amazing noise-shred record with Weasel Walter and Damon Smith. His catalog is deep.
Avatar Fri. 5/12/17 12:44pm doctorjazz:

Jeff; the way I read the post, they didn't have the digital edition to sell. I think they just put a ridiculous price because they had to enter something in the spot, and didn't want people to order it without carefully reading the text).
@Dean-I do have the Yo Miles stuff, it is really good. It's the deep catalog that makes it impossible to feel like I "know" his music.
Anyway, I have the CD on order, willing to "share" when it comes...

Avatar Fri. 5/12/17 1:46pm Lane Gray:

Tele, you should see the variable pitch on the last video I did. I tried to improvise on a guitar where all the knees were in the wrong places. Threw me so much that I couldn't keep the bar straight. And of course I uploaded it before listening to it
