Thanks for getting the whole GTDR end of the marathon off to a slamming start two weeks ago, Kim. You were the drum major and we followed your lead!

Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 7:16pm KimSorise:

Aww. Well, as the pop culture turn of phrases goes, "I learned it from watch you," Doug! Beyond proud for the radio brethren. Another year down and it's starts all again tomorrow, I am sure. Happy 30th Anniversary to you sir!
Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 7:17pm KimSorise:

Good evening, Dave!
Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 7:22pm Doug Schulkind:

30th anniversary sounds so much ...older... when you say it.
Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 7:24pm KimSorise:

Never! We only improve with age, I'm coming up on 20 years on air this year. I'll take it.
Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 7:26pm Doug Schulkind:

Twenty years of happy listeners is a lot of happy listeners!
  Mon. 3/20/17 7:33pm doctorjazz:

Hi Kim, sounding good! Happy Anniversary to you both!
Great marathon! (who needs that stinkin' JM in the AM!)

ARETHA!
Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 7:36pm KimSorise:

Thank you Doug & DoctorJazz! Could not be happier about the marathon!
Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 7:38pm Doug Schulkind:

I know you're just kidding about JM in the AM. That show, and it's beloved host Nachum Segal, were a huge part of WFMU, even if it wasn't integrated into the freeform life of the station.
  Mon. 3/20/17 7:41pm doctorjazz:

I am just kidding, even occasionally listened to it (have orthodox Jewish family...). The shows at the end with Ken were touching.
I was more referring to the sort of panic at the station that fund raising was doomed without their generally good sized contribution, while this year did turn out to be the best I remember in a few years.
Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 7:49pm Doug Schulkind:

One of my longest-time listeners is a gentleman who was a die-hard JM in the AM fan who just never turned off the radio at 9am on Friday mornings. (I followed Nachum Segal on Fridays for 20+ years.) This fellow has a huge heart and even huger ears and he represents to me the best of WFMU. Always being willing to break out of your comfort zone to explore new things.

Somebody stop me before I say the word pledge. D'OH!

howdy!

The phone number must play in your head while you sleep
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/20/17 8:05pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

People can still pledge...
Loves Donovan - loves Pre-Huge Bowie...Loves Big Star...the whole mess...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/20/17 8:06pm Little Danny:

Hi Kim, hi everybody!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/20/17 8:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...that Lou feller's ok too...
Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 8:08pm KimSorise:

Howdy! And yes, folks can still pledge. When I first began in radio in Detroit I was an engineer for Morning Edition... I dreamed of underwriters often. I threw headphones due to too much spit from Carl Kastle's clicking dentures. Oh those were the days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/20/17 8:09pm Little Danny:

"Carl Kastle's clicking dentures" has quite a ring to it
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/20/17 8:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Binaural ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 3/20/17 8:10pm melinda:

That's a nice story, Doug. I used to hear the sliver of JM in the AM right before the transition to freeform on the stream, and I didn't realize for a long time that it was an entire legit show being broadcast on the airwaves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 3/20/17 8:10pm melinda:

I love Street Hassle.
Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 8:11pm Doug Schulkind:

There used to be a whole bunch of listeners who thought the last strains of JM in the AM's closing Friday theme were actually the beginning of my intro! Hiya, melinda!
Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 8:12pm KimSorise:

Me too, I am not a huge fan of much of Lou's solo material. I am much more in the Cale camp - but Street Hassle is just perfect as a piece.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/20/17 8:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- it was a fanfare that told me to get out of the shower & not miss the bus...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/20/17 8:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...tho' it always kinda made me think of Borat...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 3/20/17 8:16pm melinda:

That's funny, Rabbit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/20/17 8:24pm Dave in Vermont:

I am really into this show, Kim. I am disappointed that I have to do some work that involves watching a video. Thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/20/17 8:25pm northguineahills:

I was so disheartened when I found this Springsteen 10" a few years back, and realized I had no $$$. It's pretty damn awesome!
Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 8:26pm KimSorise:

Thanks Dave! The archive will be up tomorrow I am sure. Thanks again for stopping by this evening.
Avatar Mon. 3/20/17 8:28pm KimSorise:

I have never played this on air northguineahills! Glad you could be in ear shot of the inaugural listen. I have had it since it was released, but Springsteen's line on Street Hassle is what made me pull it off the shelf.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/20/17 8:28pm northguineahills:

The youtube of this Springsteen recording is fun to watch as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/20/17 8:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Great ! Thx.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 3/20/17 9:00pm northguineahills:

Thanks Kim!
