Good evening, David. I was looking at the begining of the year for a good CB comp. Nothing stood out. Now....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/21/17 5:04pm Brian in UK:

Closing on Chuck, unless you have covered it earlier, not heard mention o.f Promised Land. The Johnny Allen cover is peerless.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/21/17 5:04pm Brian in UK:

There is no sound on the he speaker.
  Tue. 3/21/17 5:06pm Lisa Mo:

Right, David the guest is like super quiet. David D's breathing is louder ;-).
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/21/17 5:06pm Brian in UK:

David, turn up the volume on the Esperanto speakers mic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/21/17 5:07pm David D:

Thanks, we're going to try another mic after the song...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/21/17 5:07pm David D:

Hey Lisa!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/21/17 5:10pm Brian in UK:

This would be a great question for people who think that they know music to guess the language being sung. Tee hee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/21/17 5:12pm Brian in UK:

Brexit should have minimal effect on Esperanto?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/21/17 5:12pm Brian in UK:

Sounds good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/21/17 5:13pm Brian in UK:

Here Boss I've got these Esperanto records. Where do I file them.

Business as usual, then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/21/17 5:35pm Brian in UK:

Stanley , the tablet I am using came from Moses. Commandments 11-15.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/21/17 5:50pm Webhamster Henry:

I stepped out for a bit - so maybe you've covered it; was there an effort to promote Esperanto in Africa as a lingua franca? It kind of shows its IndoEuropean roots but might not have been too hard to pick up.
Also, one of the successes of second languages is Tok Pisin, made out of English as it was understood and pronounced in New Guinea, with accretions from whatever it bumped into. New Guinea is a hotbed of linguistic diversity, or at least used to be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/21/17 6:03pm David D:

David will be with us here for another half hour, if you have any more questions or comments...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/21/17 6:08pm Brian in UK:

Interesting show. Early start.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/21/17 6:09pm Stanley:

David - I missed the beginning of the interview. I'm assuming you are not a native born speaker of Esperanto or English and had to learn both of these languages. Was learning Esperanto as easy, as it is made out to be, say compared to English?
Avatar Tue. 3/21/17 6:14pm Doug Schulkind:

Funny, you don't look Esperantish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/21/17 6:15pm Webhamster Henry:

Here's a kind of orthographical question: why does it use circumflexes and not hačeks? Is it because there was already an overstriking circumflex on French typewriters? I see from wikipedia you can also spell it ch or cx etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/21/17 6:21pm Stanley:

I love dem diacritics.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/21/17 6:23pm Webhamster Henry:

The substitutions are a little like ss for ß or ue for ü, etc. I can see how they would want an appropriate mix of familiarity without an actual borrowing form a specific language!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/21/17 6:27pm David D:

Doug: It's the lighting.
Avatar Tue. 3/21/17 6:30pm Doug Schulkind:

How enlightening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/21/17 6:30pm David D:

Henry: Yes, that's right. There are programs that make it easy use the diacritics, thoŭĝĥ.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 3/21/17 6:37pm Stanley:

Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/21/17 6:37pm northguineahills:

SY has a record where the title is in Esperanto, "Invito al ĉielo"
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/21/17 6:47pm David D:

Hey northguineahills - yes, and I've seen various electronic stuff with Esperanto names, often with no apparent connection to the language.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/21/17 6:53pm Scraps:

Thank you for this, David.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 3/21/17 6:55pm David D:
