Ridgewood Radio features live sets by adventurous bands and experimental musicians, recorded at clubs and galleries running along the L-train corridor through Brooklyn and Queens from Williamsburg to the Rockaways. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the blossoming Ridgewood neighborhood, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Afternoon and happy 2017, David and Ruth!

Welcome to 2017 James!

The doctor is happy, good to know!

Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 1/4/17 2:27pm Scraps deSelby:

the doctor is happy/unhappy.

go on squeeze the wheeze!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 2:35pm doctorjazz:

Trying to be optimistic...
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 2:36pm weinstein:

Understood. I have not been able to write the simple phrase of happy new year without some caveat so far....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 2:49pm fred:

Hello David, Ruth and listeners. No early escape from work for me today, but I haven't even missed half the show
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 2:54pm doctorjazz:

Love this Cooper-Moore, real Delta feel.
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 2:55pm weinstein:

The instruments he builds are amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 2:58pm fred:

I have never seen Cooper-Moore. Fixing that is my first wish for 2017 (I don't take these, or years, very seriously)
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 2:59pm geezerette:

This is always such a good program.
Dreading Jan. 20th, but the new year can bring loved ones and friends closer. Our values and priorities will be clearer, our vision sharper. Stay awake. Stay positive. Music ALWAYS helps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 3:02pm doctorjazz:

The Holmes/Chen is pretty cool as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 1/4/17 3:04pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi David! Nice show today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 3:05pm fred:

@geezerette: Don't worry about the inauguration: word is John Ashcroft won't be the featured singer after all. Music shall survive another day
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:13pm geezerette:

@Fred: haha! You mean we won't hear,"Let The Eagle Soar"?
My husband says all that talent checked out last year to avoid being asked to perform.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 3:16pm fred:

@geezerette: Bob Dylan is still alive. At his crankiest, Xmas-record-style, this could be fun. Maybe that's why he spared the Nobel committee
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:24pm weinstein:

Marching bands, Rockettes, all white church choirs, and some cookie cutter talent show singers is about what we are seeing so far. Ted Nugent and Pat Boone?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 3:28pm fred:

Hank Williams Jr?
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:29pm geezerette:

@Fred: That would be surreal! There's a British artist who was asked to sing and said fine,as long as she could sing "StrangeFruit". She's black.
@David: And some of he Rockettes said no! Pat Boone would be perfect. :D
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:32pm geezerette:

Hank Williams Jr.!
And Clint Eastwood doing performance art with only a chair for a prop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 3:33pm fred:

@geezerette: I think one of the Mormon Tabernacle choir singers quit over this too
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:35pm geezerette:

David & Fred, you should do the booking. :D

You're right Fred,one did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 3:35pm fred:

If you want surreal, I nominate Mark E. Smith
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:39pm geezerette:

that would be GREAT! There could be a shouting contest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 3:42pm fred:

This Gaiamamoo was pretty great
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:44pm weinstein:

Gaiamamoo (and some of these others like Carbon and Bloodbath) had remarkable theatrics. Sometimes the music/sound recordings don't hold up without the staging. These did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 3:50pm doctorjazz:

Thanks for the fine show again, David and Ruth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 3:50pm fred:

@geezerette: I can picture MES for the national anthem, starting with the British one for a few bars, saying "this song is shit", going into the US one, then going "this one too", then pulling out a bottle of Trump vodka before ranting about how crappy it is
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:51pm geezerette:

HA!!! :D
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:53pm weinstein:

There's Trump vodka?!!!
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:53pm geezerette:

David, thanks for all the wonderful music. :)
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:54pm weinstein:

Everybody be safe and work hard! We have a little challenge ahead! Subversive music can be the soundtrack but lots or real action needed!
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:55pm geezerette:

...& I'm sure they use moldy potatoes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 1/4/17 3:57pm fred:

@David: Not anymore, but I think there are plenty of unsold inventory (which would be safer than Trump steak)
Thanks David and Ruth. I missed so many of these shows, but I hope I'll miss more this year if that means I'm at live shows instead
Avatar Wed. 1/4/17 3:57pm geezerette:

Yep, participation is mandatory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 1/4/17 4:01pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks a ton, y'all!
