Norway was a bit neat and clean and bourgeois for me, but Iceland is truly staggering. did dig up some old medieval Norse music which was pretty good, and a bit of impro going on. King Crimson had sold out three nights in Oslo months ago!

i'm psyched for the kalimba set. i didn't hear a single one on kalimbas day.
Avatar Fri. 10/14/16 10:51am Doug Schulkind:

I could do 10 hours of kalimba, coalacanth. Don't tempt the beast!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/14/16 10:53am doctorjazz:

Technical detail...I have noticed on your show, the volume when you speak is much lower than the music volume, have to turn up my radio to hear you, then I get blasted when the music comes back. Don't know if anyone else has this. I use the pop up from a PC connected to a clock radio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/14/16 10:53am coelacanth:

Coelacanth, I think what we need is a new set of blues songs with double numbers, like 22-20, 32-20, and so on. I don't know of any more, but Doug probably has a list.

Perhaps it would be best to start at "01-01 blues" and work up to "99-99 blues," in order.
Avatar Fri. 10/14/16 11:16am Doug Schulkind:

Maybe we could have Jonathan Borofsky guest-host, Listener Gregory!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/14/16 11:16am coelacanth:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/14/16 11:16am Parq:

Here for the tail end. Dylan's deserving a lit award, let alone Alfred's, is up for debate, but I love it because, like so much else, it's making the right wing entertainingly apoplectic.
Avatar Fri. 10/14/16 11:19am Doug Schulkind:

Part of the problem with the inconsistent levels is that the quality of the MP3s I play are all over the map. It requires more wrangling and levels monitoring than I am providing. I should do better (I tell myself practically every week.)

Good welcome, Parq! I'd enjoy watching right-wing veins throb with you.

Avatar Fri. 10/14/16 11:40am Doug Schulkind:

@Dean
I think "character count" should be hyphenated since it is modifying "police."
Avatar Fri. 10/14/16 11:40am Ben Zobrist:

Why am I not surprised, Uncle Michael?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/14/16 11:42am Munenori Kawasaki:

Are the Metaphors are real group or just an expression?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 10/14/16 11:44am Munenori Kawasaki:

Were they on the same label as The Analogies and The Similes?

I plead guilty. I sped right through that comment.

Reminds me of my favorite local banner, which appears a couple times a year: GIANT LIBRARY BOOK SALE. What is GIANT modifying?
  Fri. 10/14/16 11:46am earrie:

Impossible to draw any sort of comparison on that label, I imagine.

The Metaphors are the bee's knees, the icing on the cake, and like the world, a stage upon which all the men and women are merely players.
  Fri. 10/14/16 11:50am Dean:

Have you ever tried to play a merely?
Avatar Fri. 10/14/16 11:51am Doug Schulkind:

@Dean
I think you meant the bees' knees.

Hello, Marie!
Avatar Fri. 10/14/16 11:51am Doug Schulkind:

A rigged vote. Dirty Doug, he has no place in this in this election. Send the non-native sitars back to whence they came.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 10/20/16 9:54am Brian in UK:

There are two kinds of pity. One, the weak and sentimental kind, which is really no more than the heart's impatience to be rid as quickly as possibe of the painful emotion aroused by the sight of another's unhappiness, that pity which is not compassion, but only an instinctive desire to fortify one's own soul against the sufferings of another; and the other, the only kind that counts, the unsentimental but creative kind, which knows what it is about and is determined to hold out, in patience and forbearance, to the very limit of its strength and even beyond.
