re: Portland -- so sad to hear that that is happening there too (i have lived in Hoboken since 1981) -- i have never been there but so want to visit! i keep hearing how vegan-friendly & environmentally conscious it is, public transportation is awesome, etc. . . . i think even AARP named it one of the best cities in which to retire . . . !

but, the mainstream deems it as "undesirable" and it is like you cannot pay people to move there (i am thinking of LES, Williamsburg, Hoboken, etc. in 1970s, 1980s) . . . then the next thing you know the mainstream sees profit, and it is like Invasion of the Body Snatchers
