Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 9:31am Doug Schulkind:

Exactly, hyde! It's like Michael Jackson, who was a germ freak and a clean-o-phobic, being nicknamed "Smelly." Which is true!

More on Valaida Snow:

In 1935 Valaida Snow, the Afro/American jazz performer recorded in London for the first time with a group of modern jazz, leaning British musicians. Valaida was a jazz singer and trumpet player in the style of Louis Armstrong. She was a very talented musician playing a number of instruments to a professional standard and had a following in Europe and the USA. She recorded in London in 1935, 1936 and 1937 and from then until 1942 she recorded in France, Sweden and Denmark. She was then arrested by the Nazis and imprisoned and on her release in 1945 she returned to the US and continued her recording career there until 1953.

Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 10:07am Little Danny:

Wow this Naang Naang track is so heavy
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 10:08am βrian:

There's a certain acoustic quality here that reinforces the sense that the sound is coming from the kitchen in the back... And my coffee is cold and sweet.
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 10:09am βrian:

Doug, is Kris' show archived. I could not find it the other day.
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 10:38am Little Danny:

It is crazy. Kris and I both broadcast (from relatively close to each other) from one of the most geographically isolated, least densely populated regions of the country.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/7/16 10:39am Stanley:

Brian! How are you?

(I checked today but still no joy on the Kris Holmes archive)
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 10:39am Webhamster Henry:

Don't forget to mention that for Locals, there's going to be a mini Record Fair at Monty Hall.
Join us for a small but mighty record affair at Monty Hall on Saturday, Oct 15th (10am-7pm). Thousands of LPs, CDs, and 7"s will be offered up by WFMU and WFMU DJs for bafflingly reasonable prices. 43 Montgomery St in Jersey City.

@Flash no but I can imagine it is not too difficult. The guy who landed up on the floor was a prospective leadership candidate who filed his application too late to be included in the vote. Jeez. Farage has nothing to be proud of leaving a Party in that parlous state with infighting, literally.

It would be gouda you all to join me at the top of the hour.
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:31am Cecile:

I'm sure the drummer is named Road Manager.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/7/16 11:32am Parq:

Coming in just before the ending. This would be the part where my mother, having just come in the room, would start asking my father to recap the whole movie. "Who's he? What's going on with them? What's that thing for?"
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:33am Doug Schulkind:

The butler did it.
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:33am βrian:

Speaking of, I just had a swank little bandaged cheddar from one of our local makers. Sensational.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/7/16 11:33am Parq:

Enjoying the Breugel spoof, even though the first thing I thought when I saw it was "Sims".
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/7/16 11:34am Stanley:

Haha Parq. Exactly what I get from the gf. I usually make up a whole load of exagereated nonsense, so she gives up interest.
  Fri. 10/7/16 11:34am Marrie:

Hey peeps, Happy Friday! Love the GIF Doug. Thanks for making my Friday AM better.
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:35am βrian:

8-o'clock woman is running the entire scene, I think. Good work, Jeff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/7/16 11:37am Parq:

βrian, she's the only one who didn't inhale the laughing gas. Held her breath at just the right moment.
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:39am Doug Schulkind:

Hey hey, Marrie!
  Fri. 10/7/16 11:43am sinner:

..just got the gas face eye roll from my boss for chair dancing......
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:44am Doug Schulkind:

When I get a gas face eye roll, I prefer seedless.
  Fri. 10/7/16 11:45am sinner:

...what it now.....
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:46am Doug Schulkind:

The dudes in this band Ghetto Brothers were the real-life people behind the attempted truce between NYC Gangs that was portrayed in the movie The Warriors.
  Fri. 10/7/16 11:46am jessie:

since I'm here chair dancing alone, I just looked at myself funny in solidarity
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:47am Doug Schulkind:

Keep dancing, Jessie!

  Fri. 10/7/16 11:48am Dean:

Is "gas face eye roll" one of those newfangled "fusion" sushi items?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/7/16 11:49am Brian in UK:

Crapulous as ever, Doug. Thank you.
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:49am Doug Schulkind:

About the same time the gents from Ghetto Brothers were trying to broker a gang-war peace, the fellows from Hackamore Brick were smoking doobies in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Just chilling.
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:49am Jeff Golick:

@βrian: at least I'm well rested.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/7/16 11:50am Leonardo:

Wowee set man!
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:50am Doug Schulkind:

If I am anything, I am oldfangled.

Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:51am Jeff Golick:

A Hackamore Brick tribute album might be called One Kiss Leads to a Mother.
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:51am βrian:

Is it 1971 already? How time flies!
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:52am Doug Schulkind:

Shalalala shalalala whoop whoop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 10/7/16 11:52am Stanley:

The Time Flies
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:52am βrian:

That's it. 8 o'clock woman is soon to be a mother!
  Fri. 10/7/16 11:53am Dean:

Oldfangled is so cool. That's how I hope my kids remember me.
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:54am ndbob:

@jeff ha!
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:54am Doug Schulkind:

Oldfangled sounds like a new flavor from Pringles®.
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:54am βrian:

Or "Old Pith and Vinegar" flavor.
Avatar Fri. 10/7/16 11:56am Jeff Golick:

She may indeed be pregnant. She's probably the long-suffering wife of the saxophone player, at 7 o'clock.
  Fri. 10/7/16 11:56am Dean:

...or a mash-up of a Jack London novel and a Disney movie.
