Options Brian Turner: Playlist from September 20, 2016 Options

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Funhausen and David Nance are 2 of my fave artists for 2016 so far. Nice to hear 'em back to back.
Avatar Tue. 9/20/16 3:34pm Brian Turner:

Me too Sue P!
Avatar Tue. 9/20/16 3:44pm YETI BOB:

You fooled me. I was sure "Mutant Humans" was an old Residents track.
Avatar Tue. 9/20/16 3:45pm Brian Turner:

Actually a spinoff of Dow Jones and the Industrials
Avatar Tue. 9/20/16 3:56pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

seems I missed another Rev up there.

  Tue. 9/20/16 3:59pm Polyus:

well that was a bit unhinged.
Avatar Tue. 9/20/16 4:08pm slugluv1313:

i am wondering if GSH had ever heard The Brother's Rap incredible take on his "Revolution"!
i have only heard it once before, but i was so knocked out that i dropped whatever i was doing to see where i might be able to find it -- all i could find was that it was only available through this here super-limited-edition, Project Twelve subscription from Numero:
so, i am so freakin' happy to hear that it has been released on this "After School Special" CD!!!

Avatar Tue. 9/20/16 4:34pm Cheri Pi:

everything about this song.
  Tue. 9/20/16 4:34pm pierre:

Ca va ?

By the way CheriPi, speaking of Kraken, I've read a book entitled "Kraken" by a guy called China Mieville. It's quirky, fantastic, and full of weird cults. I recommend it if you're into urban fantastic literature.
Avatar Tue. 9/20/16 4:34pm Clara Sanchez:

Toma ya! Los Saicos! That´s great, Brian!

@Brian : ca bouge très très bien !
@Cecile : I don't know if I can judge him on this only book, which is the only one I've read. But yeah, this one was super entertaining as well as quite original. Is twists on "creatures" and characters is quite unique.
  Tue. 9/20/16 4:39pm PatrickP:

This album influenced NWA I think. 'Where's My Girl'

Hearing Eminence Front, I feel like its the Republican National Convention all over again. They played that song to death.
Avatar Tue. 9/20/16 5:54pm Cecile:

I think it's hilarious that it was a luxury car commercial. It's a cautionary tale about poseurs.
Avatar Tue. 9/20/16 5:55pm Cecile:

ralphine, and probably two people knew what the damn song was about.
Swag For Life Member Tue. 9/20/16 5:56pm Ralphine:

Yeah. I thought it was an odd choice.
Avatar Tue. 9/20/16 5:56pm totallybiased:

When I was likkle I always thought 'Eminence Front' was 'Livin In The Bronx'
Avatar Tue. 9/20/16 5:57pm Cecile:

I think it's because it's a really good song to drive to.
