It makes eminent sense that Brazilian disco would be this tasty.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:25pm
KimSorise:

Most certainly - I may slide in one more after Skip Mahoney

Mmmmm ... Brazilian Skip Sandwich....

Steve Miller at its pinnacle!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
melinda:

This is special. At first I thought it was a cover of that Steve Miller Band song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
melinda:

Wait, so it is?!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:43pm
listener james from westwood:

It's that AND "Quiet Village"! A mashup decades before we knew the term!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
KimSorise:

It's from 1980 - and the SMB was released in 1977/78... Wish I didn't know that but anyway, lots of "Bollywood" films from the 70/80s took American pop hooks and completely made them their own. That one just beats the hell out of Steve Miller - for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm
melinda:

It makes sense that they would incorporate American pop hooks. After hearing some of the Southeast Asian covers on Bodega Pop, it seemed like anything was possible.

listener james from westwood:

I once heard (on WFMU) a recording of a DJ live-scratching one or two copies of "Take the Money and Run" and drawing that drum opening out to what seemed like 5 minutes of scratches, beats, and breaks until finally letting go with that anticipated "Whoo-whoo!" to orgiastic crowd response. So it seems like Steve Miller makes a good ingredient in another recipe!

I found an original Usha Uthup discoey LP, it's the straight dope!

Finally got all of my crap this weekend, it appears all of my rekkids made it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm
melinda:

That sounds like a fun remix, James. I like a few Steve Miller songs, including Take the Money and Run, but not the one referenced in the Bollywood tune. But I did like the Bollywood version, definitely an improvement.
