Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

In the Crayola Factory store, I found a tee shirt that said "Sometimes, you just have to color outside the lines." It was a really cheaply made shirt for $20, so I took a pass, but I still love the slogan.

Avatar    Fri. 8/26/16 1:07pm Alex In Illinois:

Really, what is he saying? We always sang "Bruce" to it.
Avatar    Fri. 8/26/16 1:09pm Jeff Golick:

From wiki: "In the liner notes of the ELO compilation Flashback and elsewhere, Lynne has explained that he is singing a made-up word, "Grooss," which some have suggested sounds like the southern German expression "Grüß Gott." After the song's release, so many people had misinterpreted the word as "Bruce" that Lynne actually began to sing the word as "Bruce" for fun at live shows."
  Fri. 8/26/16 1:10pm Dean:

According to some, "The German word 'Grüß' (written as 'grooss' in the standard Latin alphabet) means "greeting" in German."
Avatar    Fri. 8/26/16 1:11pm Alex In Illinois:

Ahh, like the way John Fogerty sometimes sings: "There's a bathroom on the right".
  Fri. 8/26/16 1:11pm Dean:

Er, sorry. Google translates Grüß as Howdy.

@Parq: The real Lyric as Springsteen clearly wrote and sang it was: "Revved up like a Deuce". But Manfred Mann sang what sounded to many of as: "Wrapped up like a douche". And many of us heard Manfred Mann's version first.

En av oss ligger

Stirrade i taket
Önskar att hon var någon annanstans i stället

Synd om sig själv, känner sig dum känsla liten
Önskar hon hade aldrig lämnat alls

It takes something special to exist comfortably somewhere between Jerry Lewis & Sinatra.

Did you forget to write down the Biller and Wakefield track Unkie?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/26/16 2:03pm Uncle Michael:

Umm...what Biller & Wakefield? Oh, that was a continuation of the Deke track.

Wondering if the Kane in 1929 was an electric recording or still acoustic...prob. electric.

A restatement of TheWho - but by then, TheWho could use it...

How come none of the troubadours or trouveres ever wrote a tribute to their own times? "This is the medieval world!"

Nice tunes, UM. I decided to make stuffed grape leaves today and the rolling process is quite tedious, but this helps.

I'm the only one in my family who likes lamb. Thus, it's usually chops or lamb sausage for me, 'cuz I can write my name on them.

Berkeley ("Gourmet Ghetto," blah blah blah) has a handful of Greek/Med restaurants, but I know only a couple for a quick lunch. Meanwhile, every other day a new pizza joint opens.

These mountain boys sound Toddish. No cute animals in my dolma por favor.
  Fri. 8/26/16 2:43pm βrian:

Where I used to live, we sometimes hoped for a restaurant — of any kind — that wasn't a Greek restaurant. It was funny, in a way. I think only the Chinese restaurants weren't Greek.

My actual town, Vancouver WA, right across the bridge from Portland, has not a one, at this point. At one time we had one pretty good one and one not-so-good but passable one. Now, not a one.
But there's a Thai restaurant every few blocks, of varying quality.

I found some grass-fed lamb at the food co-op a while back and that's what inspired the dolma project. I did 1/2 lamb, 1/2 beef. Used 2 different online recipes, wingin' it here.
