It's okay not to like Information Society. Avatar Mon. 7/11/16 6:27pm People Like Us:

why are there so few Peanuts episodes available?
  Mon. 7/11/16 6:28pm vince:

He was more of a 'paper-strip' writer, than TV show writer
  Mon. 7/11/16 6:28pm P-90:

Guaraldi was the Real Thing, a Genius. Charles Shulz was a fan of modern Jazz. I think when they made the first animated Peanuts Christmas special, Shulz, who had input on every aspect, thought that "something like Brubeck" was the kind of music he wanted. Someone recommended Guaraldi as "an up-and-coming Brubeck type." Everything clicked, and the results were classic. Sad that Guaraldi died so young, he certainly would have written a lot more brilliant stuff.
Hi Vicki!

I went to school with Peppermint Patty - and every year he - yes he - would bring in a film reel of the Christmas or Halloween show and we would watch it in class. Chris Defaria was Party's voice until his voice changed and then his sister took it over...Chris is a big-wig at Warners I think. he produced that George Cloony space flick. Peppermint Patty in space. Who would have thunk

I love this song! Thanks for playing it, it's been forever since I heard it. I actually think it creates a beautiful little moment, and then it keeps going timelessly, which is the point, the eternalness of Jesus's blood.

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 7/11/16 6:47pm melinda:

The first version of the Queen of the Night that I ever heard was by Florence Foster Jenkins, who did the vocal equivalent of a shittyflute treatment.

I like that 'half-sax half-kazoo' at the beginning of this
Avatar Mon. 7/11/16 6:48pm People Like Us:

so do you reckon this is a nose flute or recorder or both? or kazoo?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 7/11/16 6:48pm melinda:

omg, when you think you've heard your favorite shittyflute, along comes another.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/11/16 6:48pm dale:

ha ha! pooeyhead may, no - WILL - run our country. either one is pooeyhead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/11/16 6:48pm Kat in Chicago:

It sounds like recorder to me.
Avatar Mon. 7/11/16 6:48pm People Like Us:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 7/11/16 6:49pm Cliff in Prague:

I like all things pooey
Avatar Mon. 7/11/16 6:49pm Webhamster Henry:

I prefer the sophistication of Portsmouth Sinfonia and The Jethros more that the kind of one-note joke of Shittyflute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/11/16 6:49pm Kat in Chicago:

okay kazoo just then
  Mon. 7/11/16 6:49pm P-90:

Almost certainly recorder. Maybe an ocarina?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/11/16 6:49pm unpopularfred:

It sounds like those shitty plastic recorders they give to schoolkids.
Avatar Mon. 7/11/16 6:49pm People Like Us:

yes, I think it's kazoo and recorder but Ken insists it's nose

"Tomorrow Never Knows" is on the Space Record? Nice!
  Mon. 7/11/16 6:51pm ScottC:

I think Voyager left the Solar System about 3 or 4 years ago so it in the off to Alpha Centuri by now...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/11/16 6:51pm dale:

other pooeyflute nominees - dancing queen by abba, tragedy by beegees, theme from arthur by christopher cross....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/11/16 6:51pm Kat in Chicago:

ocarina is not nose flute
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/11/16 6:51pm Michael 98145:

an ocarina is oral
Avatar Mon. 7/11/16 6:51pm Webhamster Henry:

Ocarinas are particularly pooey .. also slide whistles, noseflutes, flutophones.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 7/11/16 6:52pm Jeff:

Africa was written to be shittyflauted. This rendition keeps on giving - I kept cracking up with delighted laughter, while an unnamed other staff member was glowering darkly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 7/11/16 6:53pm melinda:

I think an ocarina was featured in 'Wild Thing'
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 7/11/16 6:53pm Cliff in Prague:

I think you're right ScottC, now you mention it I remember hearing that they'd officially left the solar system

FInally got a proper computer going again.

We had a couple ocarinas when we were kids. They might have been Crackerjack® prizes.

Correctamundo, Melinda. I learned how to play ocarina to that sound. A strange instrument ...
Avatar Mon. 7/11/16 6:55pm Webhamster Henry:

Ocarina is the sound at the beginning of The Good, The Bad and the Ugly Theme.
  Mon. 7/11/16 6:55pm P-90:

Ocarina is like a chubby cousin of the flutophone, which are the "shitty plastic recorders" mentioned above. Except there are some pretty good, non-shitty ones.
Avatar Mon. 7/11/16 6:55pm Rich in Washington:

Pooey flute sounds like it might actually be a recorder(s)
