And he played on Fred Schneider's first dolo record, too:

G'TZAG Duane and the 'iacs! Great show so far, feeling the Bernie set. One thing that I learned is that Bernie plays (uncredited, I believe) on Mtume's "Juicy Fruit".

I'm so glad I have a bunch of writing to do today. Then I can listen to the Duane Train while I work. Yay! Hi Duane and everybody.

Should have been a comma after "everyone" in my above comment, sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm
Kat in Chicago:

Hi KRYPT. I really enjoyed the epithets the fine people of Scotland unleashed upon a certain American presidential candidate on Twitter recently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm

Rest in Peace, Other Music. :-(

Yes RIP Other Music. I specifically remember purchasing Odelay there when I lived in Manhattan. "Two turntables and a microphone..."
Avatar 12:58pm
Wild Neil:

Mijo has some 80's synth drums going on in the background now and again. Like Miami Vice type drums...

I'm still reeling from the closing of Bimbo Tower. Losing a record store is such a blow
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm
Kat in Chicago:

Want that Mijo but looks like it's not out yet!
Avatar 1:05pm
Wild Neil:

@Fred-I think new small record stores take over in time...it happened in NY with Venus records and others that are now closed....but others came along and opened such as Other Music in the 90's...now its closed....but its sad to lose such a carefully curated collection of music to be sure....NOTHING can truly REPLACE it...only approximate it somehow...NONE of the independent record shops I knew in Syracuse in the 80's, NY such as Desert Shore and Modern Records look like they have been closed for ten or maybe even twenty years now....
Avatar 1:08pm
KRYPT:

@Kat, yeah "tupeed fucktrumpet" was a personal fav :)

Ohhhh man this has been my jam for the past week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm
fred:

@Wild Neil: I wish. But rent is way too high here for interesting record stores to survive. Though Souffle Continu is proving me wrong
Avatar 1:15pm
Wild Neil:

PEACE Duane et al! @Fred-I can only imagine the insanely high rents in Paris that probably rival Manhattan and Tokyo...which is why I am a huge fan of second tier cities such as Lublin , Poland which is much more affordable and normal people can afford to open interesting cultural offerings..now that the internet can spread information globally there is a market for say Tuareg Techno et al in Buffalo NY which is my closest city about twenty miles away...( about 40km)....Warsazawa is interesting but probably more expensive than Lublin-which has THREE major universities, hence an audience for music! I have YET to see a NON-Empik store there, they are all I see these chain stores (which are admittedly POLISH)...
Avatar 1:18pm
Wild Neil:

Dion and Tony are winning me over with their very low frequency domain swells and ebbs...VERY cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
Kat in Chicago:

Independent wrecka stows are doing well in Chicago, I'm happy to report. We've got a couple of new ones even.
Avatar 1:20pm
βrian:

Heh. "tupeed fucktrumpet." I like that. I learned the phrase "Toe rag, " in reference to one Nigel Farage. Vocabulary is fun!

Super sweet groove. Is this an original or a deep, discovered piece that was later remixed/edited?
Avatar 2:44pm
Jshatan:

Well said, Duane! Did you go to the Other Music concert?
Avatar 2:46pm
Duane:

Ari: Yeah its a re-edit, but they really brought the sleaze out of the tune. THe OG is cool, but it had too many parts in it. They didn't quite know what they wanted the song to be i think.
Jshatan: I did! It was amazing Yo La Tengo and Yoko One was a highlight!!
