Michael 98145 is right. This site should be taught in design schools, seriously
  1:28pm

Avatar 1:36pm
ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ:

Thanks guys! I went to Frys to try out all those shmancy headphones and only 2 or 3 on display actually worked. Of course you're forced to listen to the most God awful music so it makes it hard to tell if they are good or not. I think I tried the Sennheisers, one model of Sony and Beats by Dr. Dre. All sounded pretty good, but again, standing in Frys listening to crappy pop songs is not the best place to figure it out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm
mariano:

@Kenzo: I second that, the accuplaylist is a joy.
Avatar 1:38pm
InBrkly:

I used to be a big fan of the lower end Grado's but I kept breaking the cord by rolling my office chair over them. I got tired of paying so much for headphones and now I just use the cheapest sennheiser over-ear headphones.
  1:39pm
Cliff:

Personally I'd avoid Beats or Bose, unless you like LOTS of bass (but you could always get a headphone amp and mess with eqlzer settings), even so they're pretty overpriced
Avatar 1:39pm
Chris M.:

@ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ: beats are actually bad headphones. the sony ones previously mentioned are good. i also like and currently use audio-technica ath-m30
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Michael 98145:

Besides the Beats just look goofy, IMHO, of course
Avatar 1:40pm
βrian:

It would be nice to have the playlist read most-to-least recent, so one doesn't have to leap to the bottom to find the last three songs, say.
Avatar 1:42pm
rbxbx:

@ᏠЄႶႶỊѺµЄ the Sony MDR7506 are classics and can be had for under $100 these days. Pretty light weight and useable enough for monitoring/tracking and daily usage. Cord is a bit long if it gets stretched out though.
Avatar 1:43pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Brian, what if it stayed at bottom and the last entry were highlighted?
Avatar 1:43pm
rbxbx:

oh @βrian already said that. Well, another vote from here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm
fred:

I'm half deaf, but I've been consistently told Beats are crap. I only heard praise for the Sony MDR7506 though you should take it with some salt (I'm basically deaf, remember)
Avatar 1:46pm
βrian:

Oh, didn't see. Amen re agitated gifs. Very evil. Javascript-independent basic functionality is also fundamental.
Avatar 1:47pm
InBrkly:

maybe just add a bit of js like window.scrollTo(0,document.body.scrollHeight);

I dunno it - is a small thing.

There are probably more important changes to be made.
  1:48pm
wild neil:

read the amazon reviews for the sony mdrs this is a modern classic for eighty bucks...i doubt you'll find better.
Avatar 1:48pm
βrian:

That would only work if the page loaded to the bottom. It's good to see things in context rather than broken apart. ("In my view," as says Bernie.)
Avatar 1:50pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@InBrkly: The comments window already does a much nicer and sophisticated form of that.
@Brian: What if the new bottom scrolled more into view like the comments do now?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm
Michael 98145:

Great music today, DJ Liz
  1:53pm

Yeah, I think the sweet spot for headphone prices is $80-120 or so, anything much beyond that and you start going into kooky audiophile territory :)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm
fred:

@Kenzo: that sometimes works, I've been puzzled about the inconsistency. Do these questions mean you're back on the site front?
  1:59pm
Cliff:

I tried to get some turntable recommendations once, I was looking at some Audio-Technica models for under $200, and some audiophiles popped up and were like, cluck cluck, you must spend at least $500 for a very basic model that you have to calibrate yourself. Pffffftttt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm
Mike East:

I asked my wife very specifically for a pair of mdr7506's for xmas a few years ago and she got me a significantly more expensive pair of Bose headphones...they are quite nice, and sound great, but I know how much money we can afford, and would have preferred to still have that money.

One of those kooky audiophiles here...I do like the Sennheiser Amperior, which is a bit more than the price originally mentioned (<$200), but I've seen them used or on clearance for less. I have them, really like them. The Beyerdynamic DT-1350 are in the $150 range and pretty nice as well, not as warm/fuzzy as the Senns, but more detailed. My $0.02...

Arrgh, I wish I could still wear my lovely antique Sony MDR-V6s, but I find over-the-ear phones very very uncomfortable w/glasses, and I can't wear contacts anymore. So I'm stuck w/earbuds.

You got me started...another nice on ear headphone, the Thinksound On1, wood body, pretty looking and warm sounding, <$200 (can be found for $100-150, list is closer to $200).
