Judging from the accuplaylist's autofill function, I'm the only person on FMU who ever plays Italian prog....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/17/16 12:54pm Carmichael:

I would think Fabio would play that stuff.

and for that we are all grateful !
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 12:56pm Tony Coulter:

@ Carmichael: Well, yeah, Fabio does play some Italian avant prog, I guess -- like the great Pierrot Lunaire.... but not the proggy prog
  Tue. 5/17/16 12:56pm Dean:

Try Le Orme. Fabio et al. have played them.

*cringes* Yeesh, those Blood Sweat & Tears lyrics! This song alone might have kicked off punk. The Ramones were sitting around sniffing glue, heard that, and said 'Yo, we don't know how to play no instruments or nuthin, but we gotta do somthin 'bout dis.'
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/17/16 1:10pm Brian in UK:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/17/16 1:32pm Cecile:

ARE YOU SURE CLAY DIDN'T WRITE THIS SONG?
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 1:33pm Tony Coulter:

No, I think he wrote "The Margarine King."

Frank Zappa on a really bad day, lyrics by Paul McCartney.
:D
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 1:33pm V Priceless:

"Summer Madness" originally released on the equally-fine "Light of Worlds" LP, I think.

  Tue. 5/17/16 1:51pm MrFab:

Is this Bene Gesserit a new recording? if so, amazing they're still so good after all these years.
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 1:52pm Tony Coulter:

@ MrFab: Yep, it is all brand new stuff. They are as great as they ever were -- which can be said of few groups that have been together as long as they've been (of course, they are married).
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 1:53pm Tony Coulter:

.... meaning, they have a lot of time to work on songs together....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/17/16 1:59pm Cecile:

well. maybe it hurts a little.
Avatar    Tue. 5/17/16 2:01pm geezerette:

Disco was so agressive!
Pro/Ag?
Avatar    Tue. 5/17/16 2:04pm geezerette:

meant Prog or Ag.
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 2:06pm Tony Coulter:

What I've always been struck by is that anything can become disco with the addition of a disco beat. For example, I have three disco versions of "In A Gadda Da Vida."
Avatar    Tue. 5/17/16 2:07pm geezerette:

Play them!
  Tue. 5/17/16 2:08pm Dean:

I'd love to hear that Arditti Xenakis track with a disco beat.
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 2:09pm Tony Coulter:

@ geezerette: I will, some day, for sure. Here's one of them: www.discogs.com...
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 2:10pm Tony Coulter:

@ Dean: I'll have to try that. I bet it would make all the kids get down and boogie oogie oogie.
Avatar    Tue. 5/17/16 2:11pm geezerette:

Listening to these things what strikes me about disco is an American type of forced cheerfulness, the peer pressure to deny any less than cheerful thought or feeling. Punk seems inevitable right?
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 2:15pm Tony Coulter:

Of course, there was also punk disco: www.punk-disco.com
  Tue. 5/17/16 2:16pm Dean:

Disco Xenakis sounds great! Start with this:

...and add this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMqvSWYQPc4
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 2:16pm Tony Coulter:

Hmm. That link above seems to be broken. Maybe this instead: en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar    Tue. 5/17/16 2:17pm geezerette:

The Hippie thing was equally agressive about enforced "wild & free" behaviour and professed belief in magic.
The positives were the anarchic sense of humor and The Whole Earth Catalogue pragmatism and generosity.

Punk disco! That's hilarious!
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 2:20pm V Priceless:

Hey Tony - diggin' this Twenty Sixty Six and Then...looks like it's pretty rare, in any format.
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 2:21pm Tony Coulter:

Actually, it just got re-reissued, so it should no be relatively easy to find.
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 2:21pm V Priceless:

cool! thanx for the tip
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 2:22pm Tony Coulter:

Avatar    Tue. 5/17/16 2:22pm geezerette:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/17/16 2:25pm Cecile:

  Tue. 5/17/16 2:43pm Dean:

The Surprise, I mean.
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 2:45pm Tony Coulter:

@ Dean: Don't believe so....
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 2:46pm Tony Coulter:

@ V Priceless: That's a mistake on discog's part -- it's definitely "Eve," not "Eye"...
Avatar Tue. 5/17/16 2:46pm V Priceless:

I figured that!
