Thanks to Jesse for turning me on to that Los Microwaves track (it's on his 2016 marathon premium).

That is indeed a good 'un!

There's a live youtube vid of this great Sopwith Camel track: www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 12:27pm Nick S.:

Hey, Tony!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/3/16 12:27pm Carmichael:

I've long been a Sopwith Camel fan. Miraculous hump sat around forever, until it was just released on CD. You don't have the vinyl, do you Tony?
  Tue. 5/3/16 12:31pm V Priceless:

Hey Tony!
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 12:32pm Tony Coulter:

Heya, Nick S & V Priceless!
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 12:34pm Tony Coulter:

@ Carmichael: I do have "Miraculous Hump" on LP -- but also on CD. Played "Fazon" from the CD reish.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 12:36pm Tony Coulter:

I've got a real illness: I like having albums on both LP and CD.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 12:37pm Tony Coulter:

Money and opportunity permitting, of course....
  Tue. 5/3/16 12:41pm Athens Strip:

Whom/What is this art piece de resistance? Album Cover/Painting/self Portrait!
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 12:42pm Tony Coulter:

Heya, Athens Strip! It's an anonymous thrift store painting.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 12:43pm Tony Coulter:

Artist unknown, in other words....
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/3/16 12:47pm listener james from westwood:

Here's a Who cut they never play on the NYC classic rock stations!
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 12:48pm Tony Coulter:

Well, the lyrics are pretty disturbing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/3/16 12:48pm listener james from westwood:

Shit, you're lucky if they play the original "Pinball Wizard" these days and not the one by Elton John which, sorry Elton, just doesn't come close.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/3/16 12:51pm listener james from westwood:

Paul Nichols was WAY into his role as Kevin in the "Tommy" film.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 12:55pm Nick S.:

$27 Snap On Face! This is why I adore you, Tony!
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 12:57pm Tony Coulter:

Glad you approve, Nick!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 12:59pm Nick S.:

Approval of Tony Coulter since 2000 A.D. or so. Have you been on that long? Could be longer.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:00pm Tony Coulter:

I've been on since 1990, actually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 1:04pm Nick S.:

Ok, I thought it was longer. Wow!
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:07pm Tony Coulter:

Pretty sure this is Fred Frith singing on this early Henry Cow track -- definitely a path not followed for them.
  Tue. 5/3/16 1:08pm A Stripper:

Vocalist Please?
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:08pm Tony Coulter:

Read your mind!
  Tue. 5/3/16 1:12pm ESP:

Cheap at half the price!
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:13pm Tony Coulter:

Yes, it was Frith -- I checked the liner notes.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:16pm Tony Coulter:

And what's on now (Tommy Jay) is, of course, a Velvet Underground cover.
  Tue. 5/3/16 1:18pm Dean:

Somebody really needs to explore in depth the literature of liner notes. I once wrote a paper for a class on early modern history that examined liner notes of purportedly "authentic" recreations of late Renaissance musical ceremonies.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:19pm Tony Coulter:

Well, there is this: wfmu.org...

(Heya, Dean!)

A veritable Diderotian Encyclopédie!
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:23pm βrian:

Diderot? I had a part in this project: quod.lib.umich.edu...
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:24pm Tony Coulter:

Marky Ramone is hitting the skins on this Dust track....
  Tue. 5/3/16 1:25pm Dean:

That is way cool, βrian. I searched for "liner notes." Rien.
  Tue. 5/3/16 1:29pm Dean:

Charisma Sound, I take it, is no relation to Charisma Records.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:29pm Tony Coulter:

Nope -- no connection.
  Tue. 5/3/16 1:33pm Dean:

I kinda like the liner notes to Chicago's first album that appear on the WFMU compendium: "With this album, we dedicate ourselves, our futures and our energies to the poeple [sic] of the revolution...And the revolution in all its forms." Wish they'd stuck with that mission.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/3/16 1:33pm Carmichael:

Very proggy. Never heard of 'em!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 1:35pm doctorjazz:

Hi all, joining late (don't make me stand in the corner).

Diggin' this Nuova Idea epic!
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:37pm Tony Coulter:

The eye-talians pumped out a staggering amount of prog in the '70s....
  Tue. 5/3/16 1:38pm βrian:

Tony is the spiritual leader of the proglodytes.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:39pm βrian:

"The Seeing Eye-talians"
  Tue. 5/3/16 1:39pm Dean:

Oh my, yes they did. It wasn't all just PFM.
  Tue. 5/3/16 1:42pm Dean:

Richard Meltzer published a book in 1999, Holes: A Book Not Entirely about Golf. One of the few of his I don't have.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:43pm Tony Coulter:

Should prog be measured in amounts .. or quantities? Is it a liquid or a solid? Or a gas?
Avatar    Tue. 5/3/16 1:43pm V Priceless:

....aside from being early stronghold performance outlets for the likes of VDGG and Genesis....
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:44pm Tony Coulter:

@ VP: Italy, you mean? Yes, British prog bands were huge in Italy.
Avatar    Tue. 5/3/16 1:44pm V Priceless:

yep, TC!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 1:45pm doctorjazz:

Cool little niche of the music world I mostly missed the first time around, enjoying it!
  Tue. 5/3/16 1:45pm Dean:

Hence the Genesis photographer during the good years, Armando Gallo.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:45pm βrian:

I vote for lumens.
  Tue. 5/3/16 1:47pm Dean:

Progressive rock is an entry in DSM.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/3/16 1:47pm Carmichael:

Prog should be measured by half-life.
Avatar    Tue. 5/3/16 1:49pm V Priceless:

@ Dean: and he's still quite active, especially w/the Hackett camp.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:50pm βrian:

@Dean: Hey, that means it's covered by insurance payments!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 1:51pm Guido from Cologne:

never heard that stereo-mix of "Horror Asparagus Stories".
  Tue. 5/3/16 1:52pm Dean:

I met Gallo a billion years ago, give or take, at the Capitol Records building swap meet. He was with then perennial Genesis/Gabriel groupies, Tom and Judy.

Yes, βrian, I've tried to get my doctor make a referral to ProgFest. Not bad for a $20 co-pay.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:53pm Tony Coulter:

Hola, Guido!

This collection also features an alternate version with different lyrics....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 1:53pm Rich in Washington:

whew! Finally escaped the gauntlet of morning meetings!
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:54pm Tony Coulter:

Run, Rich, Run!

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 1:54pm Rich in Washington:

I've been digging through my cassette collection and found the Elmore tape I used to play incessantly in my old Pontiac when I was a youngster.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 1:55pm doctorjazz:

So, when I was in High School, music nuts broke down to Dead Heads and Progressive fans for the most part. I fell into the Dead Head bunch, heard some of this on FM radio, but didn't get all that much in depth exposure.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 1:57pm βrian:

When did a gantlet become a gauntlet? I refuse to participate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/3/16 1:58pm Carmichael:

I gobbled up the blues when I was a teen, primarily because they were all dying off. I saw lots of old blues guys in their twilight years, and collected tons o' cheap vinyl.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 2:01pm Guido from Cologne:

Great show!
and finally I learn about the smpling souce of the Diabolical Bizz Marky's "Dragon"
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 2:03pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Guido!
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 2:03pm Tony Coulter:

Now, what I want to know is where all the Lawrence Welk samples?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/3/16 2:04pm listener james from westwood:

Ah, hearing the sources of samples is always a treat.
This Kashmere Stage Band makes me want to get into a car chase!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/3/16 2:04pm Carmichael:

I can't find jack about Iron Lung. Their lead vocalist sounds familiar ...
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 2:06pm Tony Coulter:

Here's the cover of the Iron Lung: rymimg.com...

Don't think the vocalist is known for anything else....
  Tue. 5/3/16 2:08pm Big Tex:

Who is in this Band?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/3/16 2:08pm Carmichael:

Any info on the back, Tony??
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 2:09pm βrian:

How does one sample Champaign Music, I wonder?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 2:11pm JtotheK:

Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 2:13pm Tony Coulter:

@ Carmichael: Here is Iron Lung's lineup: Rod Anderson (drums), Bill Boltz (lead guitar, vocals), Wayne Peterson (bass), Roger Repp (guitar, vocals)

This Univeria Zekt is so fantastic! A favorite!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 2:15pm doctorjazz:

Really liking this Univeria Zekt as well, new to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 2:15pm Rich in Washington:

@Carmichael: re; blues: with me, as a teen, it seemed like a neighborhood supermarket sold blues tape for really cheap. All kinds of rock stuff, too, but I gravitated to the blues stuff for some reason. Later found out they were rather lackluster compilations that were maybe even semi-legitimate.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 2:16pm Tony Coulter:

@ doctorjazz: Univeria Zekt is Magma in disguise
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 2:16pm Nick S.:

I Can feel the love of BS&T! Who is in Kashmere Stage Band?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Tue. 5/3/16 2:19pm doctorjazz:

Don't think I'd recognize Magma even without any disguise.
Avatar Tue. 5/3/16 2:20pm Tony Coulter:

@ Volcano Lava: Believe it or not, the Kashmere Stage Band was a high school ensemble. To quote discogs: "Kashmere Stage Band (KSB), founded by music teacher Conrad O. Johnson was an elite performing unit of the student band at Kashmere High School, Houston, Texas, from the late 1960s until 1978. "
