Hi Ho, Fabio! And the giant-hearted.
  Thu. 4/28/16 3:06pm Polyus:

Voodoo Party got reissued, did I see that right? Fabio probably deserves a percentage.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:06pm JtotheK:

hi everyone.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:07pm Cheri Pi:

So, who's gonna be in da UP this Summer? Cecile and I need to plan the annual WFMU listener meet-up in Houghton, it may have to be August though...
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:07pm SSS:

Ah...the familiarity of failure...so comforting.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:07pm Michael 98145:

There were giants in the earth in those days
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:08pm Cecile:

August works for me unless one of Chris's parents gets sick, then all bets are off. I'm going to plan on August.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:09pm geezerette:

YO-YO! Listening while working.
Good Afternoon Fabio and the Fabulous!
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:11pm V Priceless:

Hey Fabio
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Well, if there's one thing you can count on in life, it's failure.
  Thu. 4/28/16 3:11pm Ike:

Never been to the UP, but I just learned there were apparently POW camps there during WWII.
  Thu. 4/28/16 3:12pm P-90:

So it's the buzzworthy quote du jour that Seaker John Boehner called Ted Cruz "Lucifer in the flesh." At first I had it wrong, I thought it was the other way around, that Cruz was referring to Boehner. I thought: that's the first smart, courageous truth I've heard from Ted Cruz since this whole Failure of The Democratic Process To Produce a Sane Election began... But no.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:12pm Cliff:

Failure is an excellent teacher, as Diane was saying in the interview earlier
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:13pm Cheri Pi:

Works for me. For those of you that missed it last year, all I can say is that what I can remember of it, was pretty epic.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:13pm Andrew Waterloo:

Didn't teach her very much about going away though.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:15pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

CP: not summer, although late nov. is pozz. visit to the missus' mum, might drag her upstate for a bit of soo locks & venison pie at yonder ANTLERS....
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:15pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

This piece (assuming it's Becuzzi/Orsi) is freaking wonderful.

Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:24pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Lovely peaceful brain drone ear-hole candy here. In a few hours, we'll be down the street getting yelled at by Lewis Black. So it all balances out.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:29pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Lewis Black was on The Daily Show last night. Glad that I caught him. His rant was on Kelly Ripa and whatever TV show she's on.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:29pm Michael 98145:

re: Antlers. Actually that sounds pretty good: "Local hand breaded smelt platter with fries and slaw."
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:31pm Cecile:

I caught, cleaned and hand breaded a lot of smelt in my day - even before I was a teenager.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:33pm cory:

Out on the picnic table, with my dad's Raapala knife in the 70s. Before Jarts and most fireworks were outlawrd..
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:36pm đ¢ ÞäŦ:

who ever thought of "smelt" as a name for a fish must have been a hilarious bastard.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:36pm Cheri Pi:

Those were the days!! I know the picnic table next to the lake of which you speak.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:38pm Cecile:

it was our backyard, actually. We also had one in our kitchen because my dad determined it was the most efficient way to seat a family of 7.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:38pm Cecile:

now I want some damn smelt.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:40pm Cecile:

that antlers restaurant looks purty good!
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:41pm Wild Neil:

Tomorrow is fish Fryday. At least in our house. We usually go to a restaurant and get it beer batter fried with French fries and slaw. Yum!

Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:42pm Cecile:

Man. I wish. I'll prolly be in Mpls because my in-laws (universe willing) will be celebrating their 75 anniversary around Xmas.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:44pm Wild Neil:

@Cecile-my GOD are they 100 or something?
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:46pm Cecile:

94. they got married at 19 and 20 respectively. Right after Pearl Harbor.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:47pm Cheri Pi:

THIS. WOW, C$, what an amazing couple!
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:48pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@CP: deal. Vegetarianism definitely takes a holiday when WEIRD MEAT is served in the company of all that taxidermy.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:49pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Now to convince the mum-in-law to let us haul her up there from the sleepy suburbs of Detroit (long drive but always worth it).
  Thu. 4/28/16 3:51pm nic:

great show so far !!!
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:53pm Cliff:

Love that album title...."The Phenomenal Autopsy of God"
  Thu. 4/28/16 3:54pm Polyus:

I would like most people better as cats.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:56pm Wild Neil:

Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:56pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:57pm Carmichael:

Heya Fabs and Giant Men & Women. I'd love to go to Houghton, but cannot feasibly accomplish it. August is my birthday month, and I normally spend it in a hot place near a cool ocean.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:57pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Why leave Detroit when there's a Little Caesars Arena hockey venue right downtown?
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 3:57pm Cecile:

they kind of are.
His mom had stomach cancer at age 86. Normally, they would just tell a person, "you had a good life", but she was in better shape than most 60 year olds. So she did chemo and surgery and kicked it.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:16pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Lower michigan gets high marks from me, based mostly on the nerdy record-shopping one can achieve in Ann Arbor....
  Thu. 4/28/16 4:18pm mr.v:

It's in Russian means porridge from a axe, track translates to the running ahead
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:19pm Rich in Washington:

I've been curious about DeMarinis. I am only familiar with his stuff via the Tellus cassette comps.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:23pm Stepchild:

You probably know him also, Rich, from the electronics he contributed to Robert Ashely's In Sara, Mencken, Christ & Beethoven There Were Men and Women
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:25pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Gundecha Bros.!!?!?!?!?
Jeepers, man, I'd run up there for that...
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:25pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Eva Hesse was and is great.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:40pm đ¢ ÞäŦ:

Kasha isn't technically "porridge." It's buckwheat. We eat kasha varnishke at home all the time, which is prepared buckwheat with noodles.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:43pm đ¢ ÞäŦ:

and with that, I bid you adieu...
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:46pm Cecile:

that's right, it's buckwheat groats.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:46pm Michael 98145:

"Four Flies on Grey Velvet" ...? Never heard of this.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:48pm V Priceless:

@ Fabio: have you heard Eno's new cover of VU's "I'm Set Free"? Pretty cool.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:53pm Ken From Hyde Park:

So is "Lucifer in the Flesh" taken as a band name yet?
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:54pm Cecile:

it's yours Ken.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:55pm Linda Lee:

i like 'Fleshy Lucifer' ~ fewer syllables.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:56pm chris:

yes, Ken, but i think folks pronounce it 'ted-nu-jent'
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:56pm Michael 98145:

@LL, that's probably being used as a pot brand name
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:56pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Following Linda Lee's lead, may I offer.... LUCIFLESH?
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 4:57pm Linda Lee:

it just gets better..
  Thu. 4/28/16 4:57pm H2oh:

...now i'm not surprised someone did such a sublime version of i'm set free - it's Eno.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 5:04pm Cliff:

"anata no kotoba" = "your words"; "nosete" I can't quite figure out, could be "carrying" or "deceiving"
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 5:04pm chris:

Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 5:06pm Cecile:

Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 5:07pm Cecile:

Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 5:07pm V Priceless:

I love to hear Eno singing! Yay!
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 5:08pm Stepchild:

Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 5:09pm geezerette:

Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 5:10pm Michael 98145:

Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 5:11pm geezerette:

Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 5:14pm coelacanth:

  Thu. 4/28/16 5:15pm nic:

love that film_don't know how many times i've seen it
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 5:16pm Michael 98145:

me, too, nic. but never in English before.
Avatar Thu. 4/28/16 5:17pm Dave in Vermont:

I know that I am supposed to like and be impressed by this film. I think the idea of the story is great and theoretically; an interesting concept. Don't get me wrong I love weird artsy shit. I have watched it several times and I just find myself so bored and annoyed. I am slightly haunted, though, by the images of a man (with weird glasses or something?) in a hammock in the catacombs. It is much better just listening to the record.
  Thu. 4/28/16 5:18pm Schlockmaster:

Hey Fabbio,
I never get to say hello to you, cause its a thursday night here in Southern Germany, when I m normally busy or drunk, but here I am now and I aleays liked your show and listenened to it on the archives often. Thank you for these nice filmtracks tonight, I really appreciate it!
