Heya Rob and friends. Just finished mowing the lawn. Or cutting the grass, depending on where you live.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm Rob W:

Carmichael, you're a better man than I am - I'm not much good at either! Fortunately our landlord mows the lawn (as we say in the Garden State)!
Avatar 🌍 Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Bas NL:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm ἶkε:

The best thing about apartment living is that you don't have to mow the bleeding bloody blasted lawn.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm Marcel M:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm coelacanth:

forgive me please; i came in late and i didn't catch where this gnawa music is from.
i have an album of gnawa music of marrakesh that sounds a bit different. (but maybe it's just the particular recordings.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm coelacanth:

...i guess i mean where the "style" is from.
(?)
Avatar 8:04pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Alabama: Written by Coltrane about a church bombing that killed little African-American girls - & correlating directly to Martin King's eulogy for them. I think Trane would love the International flavor on this version...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm northguineahills:

Wow! This is amazing.

If you listen to the original sax lines, Coltrane emulated King's eulogy, as Rev Rabbit inferred.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm Rob W:

Very interesting, thanks RR and ngh.
  8:29pm Robyn:

can David say again when the event at the Sufi Books on W. bway will be? btw, it's below Canal St. not near Union sq.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm Rob W:

Robyn, I found a link for the April 9 event: sufibooks.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm coelacanth:

on Doug's show from 9-24-10 c.2:19:50, Trane's "alabama" and Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech are played simultaneously.
