What is Fabio's stance on Guns N' Roses?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 3/24/16 3:12pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

This Francisco Geometrico thing is the bee's flipping knees.
Avatar Thu. 3/24/16 3:17pm geezerette:

I have seen the knees on bees!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 3/24/16 3:21pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

[clicks a bit] ... that BM01 thing was released on vinyl as well... egad, I must flap cash around immediately...
  Thu. 3/24/16 3:22pm adam_nspy:

Haha I just dropped The Necks off at The Whitney! Would have been a laugh if they were still in the car. Dammit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 3/24/16 3:28pm Cliff:

Fabio played "Rum Jungle" from The Necks maybe a year or two ago on his show, and that got me to check them out. Great band!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 3/24/16 3:30pm Swan_Gone:

Seeing the Necks this Saturday!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 3/24/16 3:31pm Cheri Pi:

Necks are on my list to see someday.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 3/24/16 3:35pm Cheri Pi:

I adopted Diane.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 3/24/16 3:36pm Cliff:

"The Failure of Dada" would fit right in with the list of other failures, but I guess it's subsumed by "The Failure of the Avant Garde"
Avatar Thu. 3/24/16 3:38pm geezerette:

We have only derriere garde now.
:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 3/24/16 3:40pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

It's SMEEE.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 3/24/16 3:40pm Cliff:

Avatar Thu. 3/24/16 3:44pm geezerette:

The Necks piece was beautiful.
Am I the only one who feels like we're living in a blend of the Dark Ages and Astounding Science Fiction?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 3/24/16 3:47pm Cliff:

geezerette, look her music videos up on Youtube, you will get to see plenty of her derriere....
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 3/24/16 3:47pm redkayak:

@geezerette That's a good summation...
Avatar Thu. 3/24/16 3:51pm geezerette:

...Oh! Thanks Cliff and Kayak!
I know who she is but there's so much booty shaking in pop now that I just ignore it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 3/24/16 3:56pm Cliff:

I've got a guilty pleasure for the video for "Stupid Hoe", it's just so absurd and over-the-top, truly an example of Derriere Garde if there is one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 3/24/16 3:57pm redkayak:

Sounds like a gardening video, lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 3/24/16 3:57pm billf:

Don't suppose anyone here is looking to unload a ticket for the Necks for at the Whitney tomorrow evening?
Thu. 3/24/16 3:57pm Jeff in Canada:

Loving the show! Canada loves WFMU!
Avatar Thu. 3/24/16 3:58pm geezerette:

...and I love this music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 3/24/16 4:00pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

YASS. Congrats on the marathon-goal-reaching.

Jeff: yes!
Avatar Thu. 3/24/16 4:01pm geezerette:

Cliff,I'm going to youtube "Stupid Hoe",if only cause I can't believe it's called that.
That could also be the title of a children's book on gardening!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 3/24/16 4:04pm Cliff:

Just to warn you, you probably shouldn't watch it if you have epilepsy.
Avatar Thu. 3/24/16 4:07pm geezerette:

Hey, Embrace...is playing up here next week! www.facebook.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 3/24/16 4:40pm Cliff:

Oh, Fabio said in the Amazon, the McKenna brothers would make more sense then
  Thu. 3/24/16 4:42pm βrian:

I do miss BTV.
Avatar Thu. 3/24/16 4:49pm geezerette:

Cliff is that a film? I was trying to remember if Wallace Berman made a film of a trip like that.
Whoever it was I've seen the film and it's spacy as hell. That simultaneous mix of tedium and ecstasy that's like catnip to artists.
The last Movie is not a good film but there are some great images in it because Hopper had such a good eye. Well worth watching!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 3/24/16 4:52pm Cliff:

It was a film Fabio was just talking about called Embrace of the Serpent....we were trying to guess the names of the adventurers. I looked it up on IMDb and apparently it was based on the diaries of Theodor Koch-Grunberg and Richard Evan Schultes.
Avatar Thu. 3/24/16 4:52pm geezerette:

The film I saw was a road trip for peyote buttons. Not the title, but the reason.
  Thu. 3/24/16 4:55pm Fredericks:

Mahalathini?
  Thu. 3/24/16 4:55pm Fredericks:

No? Huh. I was certain.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 3/24/16 4:59pm Lewis:

this sounds a lot like Fripp?
  Thu. 3/24/16 5:00pm Fredericks:

Oh. Must have lost signal and iTunes switched to Give The Drummer Some Radio.

I was feeling very disoriented. Music and playlist conflicts do that to me. Better now.
Avatar Thu. 3/24/16 5:01pm Fabio:

Yes, it is Richard Evan Schultes that is the main character of the later part of the story -- all based on actual events. Schultes was a university (Harvard?) professor/researcher who was studying the effects of certain plants and their mind altering properties - like Yage, etc...
  Thu. 3/24/16 5:01pm Dean:

First song on this album: In the Wake of King Fripp.
Avatar Thu. 3/24/16 5:03pm Doug Schulkind:

@Fredericks
Same thing happened to me. There was a ton of rebuffering on the FMU stream a bit ago. It kicked me over, too.
  Thu. 3/24/16 5:05pm Fredericks:

I just wished someone had told me. I still feel dizzy from the cognitive dissonance.
  Thu. 3/24/16 5:10pm Dean:

Boy, oh boy, does this sound like Polwechsel!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 3/24/16 5:12pm Ken From Hyde Park:

  Thu. 3/24/16 5:15pm Dean:

AC/DC's new vocalist should be both Alice Cooper and Darby Crash.
  Thu. 3/24/16 5:17pm Dean:

...or David Coverdale.
  Thu. 3/24/16 5:18pm Zax:

@chocolate monk - Hey, Choc monk, are you still there? Is Kid Millions related to Kenny?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Thu. 3/24/16 5:18pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Cozily weird is a good description.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Thu. 3/24/16 5:49pm Cliff:

1958-1972 The Sixties
1973-1977 The Seventies
1977-present The Eighties.
