FYI:

Longtime JUMBLE cartoonist Henri Arnold also drew Ching Chow around 1975-1990 . . . . he just passed away like November

when Ching Chow turned IRISH:

“Don't waste time arguing with an idiot”
(that's actually Bill Kelly's saying)

In 1990, allaying ethnic stereotype and gambling concerns, “Ching Chow” ended its run . . . . to be reincarnated later that year as “Meet Mr. Luckey” - now featuring an Irishman - perhaps a Leprechaun - spewing the fortune cookie wisdom.

Upon also retiring from JUMBLE at the end of 2009, cartoonist Henri Arnold said he had fun with the notion his cartoon panel contained any hot betting tips, but this simply wasn't the case, being as he mailed a month's batch of cartoons to the paper in advance, thus having no knowledge of any day's races. re: Easter and cassette collections:

It sounded like Easters VIN SCELSA regularly did live ID shows in a clip I have from Easter 1987 at the West Bank Cafe with guest Nanci Griffith . . . . (And I have Vin's ELVIS MONTAGE)

Westchester library event: Bob Backlund:

Attention you turkey necks. The cross-face chicken wing comes to the Port Chester-Rye Brook library Saturday, April 23, 2pm, as the Hall of Fame wrestling heavyweight champion crows about his new book at libraries near his CT residence. Here's the event flyer, a newspaper review, and Backlund's personal invitation:

The "I Dream of Jeannie" bottle was a Christmas 1964 limited edition decanter of Jim Beam bourbon. Here are a December 2017 article of one up for auction, and a December 4, 1964 ad:

2018 Mummers Parade's heart-touching highlight:

The powerhouse string bands were front-loaded - Quaker City, Fralinger, Ferko and South Philly performed early - for Duffy to shine as the finale, with their 6th-grade captain Jake Kudrow taking over for his father who passed away in October. T-H-E photo, Meet the Captain, Duffy performance:
