Is that Noel (Girl from UNCLE) Harrison?
Then again, how many singing, acting Noel Harrisons could there be?

Hello! Enjoying the Carcass. What's Roku?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 12:57am JakeGould:

Roku is a streaming Internet video thing. I’m surprised you don’t have one, citizen.
  Sat. 2/13/16 1:00am WaveyDavey:

rw: a visual delusion with a dash of propaganda. But don't you agree the reigning DJ cancels out that equation. Roku? Wazzat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 1:02am JakeGould:

Still, it’s odd he doesn’t have one. All respectful members of the republic have one.
  Sat. 2/13/16 1:04am rw:

Jake and Wavey, that's what I thought. Seems one needs a special player. Not interested. We've got the Carcass and that's good enough for me. Please don't let on I said anything....

Trailer Park! Was just watching the trailer for the 1981 “Pennies from Heaven.”

Only now did I realize there was a Valentine’s day theme.

I don't use double negatives but in response to your last comment going to use a double positive. "Yeah right"!

  Sat. 2/13/16 1:53am Lyle:

I remember a Valentine's Day gig I played with 101 Strings in Champagne, Illinois (might have been DeKalb? So long ago). This was back in the mid-60's. It's funny. People bought those 101 Strings records, and I don't think they thought there was really an orchestra that went on the road and played those songs, but there was! I was in the bone section. 4th bone. My usual position. Did we have 101 strings? No, of course not. What we had was a young keyboard player named Emmert Emerson, who had what must have been one of the very first string simulators. It was a Wurlitzer I think ... no, that's not right. It was a Kimball. A String-A-Ma-Gig. That's what they called it. A prototype. I don't thing it ever did go into production. It was too bulky and heavy, but it did sound nice. Folks loved the sound of it. We played all of the favorites of the day with it, and the lush sounds it was able to produce allowed us to re-create the beautiful tonalities of those 101 Strings records that are still collected by kids today! Emmert's son later started a band that enjoyed a good deal of success. They were ... Emerson, Lake and Powell. You might remember, Touch and Go? Great song. All of this was a long time ago.

  Sat. 2/13/16 2:01am WaveyDavey:

I've never felt so melodically awkward thank you for the music
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:05am coelacanth:

Lyle- emerson, lake and powell were not very successful; and keith emerson's father's name was not emmert.
...just trying to help!
  Sat. 2/13/16 2:08am Lyle:

Terrific show, Rich. It's a little late for a man my age. I'm afraid I have to go to bed. Remind me next time to tell you the story of the time I auditioned for The Mexicali Trombones. I won't give it away, but it involves an insane arm-wrestling match between Julius Wechter and, of all people, Lyle Waggoner! @Coelocanth - I'm getting on in years. Once in a while a name or date escapes me, or I am fuzzy with a detail or two. I count on your kindness to understand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:08am common:

unholy rollers hey coelacanth. sorry im tired and aint been here in a while good to see you see
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:10am coelacanth:

hey common! good to see you see too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:11am common:

i seem to have dropped my brain on the path back a-ways somewhere in the dirt and pine needles
  Sat. 2/13/16 2:12am Lyle:

Wait! See, right there, I made an error of memory. It was not Lyle Waggoner at all. It was Porter Wagoner!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:12am coelacanth:

i hope that's not what my pooch was munching on just before!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:14am common:

probably was, coelacanth. that's gonna sting a bit in the morn. plus the clean-up!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:14am Ken From Hyde Park:

Emerson, Lake & Palmer came first and were more well known. Emerson, Lake & Powell (Cozy Powell, RIP) came later when Carl Palmer was unavailable due to his being in the band Asia.
  Sat. 2/13/16 2:16am Lyle:

Carl was Arnold's boy, as I recall.
Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:17am rich:

which is a terrible excuse for being unavailable
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:20am common:

it was a heat of the moment decision rich. god, so sorry for that. had to
  Sat. 2/13/16 2:24am Lyle:

Asia. They must have been so embarrassed. They prided themselves publically on being the only band which was ever named after a continent. Of course, Europe beat them to it, and they scored the monster hit "The Final Countdown". Funny that, years before, America's Dewey Bunnell briefly moved to Ecuador and started a spinoff band named South America, which was actually the first band named after a continent. Now some will say Europe came out after Asia, but the truth is, the song "The Final Countdown" and the whole concept of the Europe combo, was formulated years before by, you guessed it, not Amerigo Vespuce, but Don McLean, of American Cake fame (the ORIGINAL song title, but that's another story!). This is why I love music and it is why I must go to bed. You young people enjoy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:25am common:

sorry, i didn't mean to click on your name either, rich. last beer and...exit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:28am coelacanth:

"bye bye, miss american cake"... i wonder how many times he sang that before he realised...'seems obvious now.
  Sat. 2/13/16 2:29am Lyle:

Bye bye Miss American Cake, drove my Chevy directly into the lake, was the original lyric.
  Sat. 2/13/16 2:30am Lyle:

It was actually Livingston Taylor that suggested the "pie" change.
  Sat. 2/13/16 2:33am Lyle:

OK, my Sominex™ is finally working. Good night all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:33am coelacanth:

are you trying to lead me down one of those,uh, pie-holes, as the expression goes?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:33am Ken From Hyde Park:

@Lyle - If you have the opportunity, you should call in to Seven Second Delay (Wednesdays at 6PM ET) and talk with Andy Breckman about Don McLean.
  Sat. 2/13/16 2:36am Lyle:

Funny you should mention that, Coelacanth. John Fogerty once relayed to me (at a Sambo's in Valdosta) that Born on the Bayou was originally titled Born in the Pie-Hole. Can barely keep my eyes open. Andy Breckman. He invented the Mounds™ bar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:39am coelacanth:

these are the good old days.
Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:41am rich:

and those are the day old goods
  Sat. 2/13/16 2:41am Lyle:

Carla Simon, Paul's girl. She wrote that "These are the Good Old Days" lyric. She was channeling Peg Lee and Melanie, who I once separated in a IHOP parking lot in Pembina, North Dakota, when the two were at great odds - their conflicting career arcs and astrological charts indicating that they should not have met at all. What a world!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:47am JakeGould:

Who are you Lyle?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:47am coelacanth:

i thought Joe Simon was Paul's girl...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:48am JakeGould:

The TV show “Simon and Simon” was named after Paul Simon and the Parker Brothers electronic game, “Simon.”
Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:53am rich:

good night all, thanks for playing and have a great week
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:53am coelacanth:

but, wasn't that game named after Neil Simon, the playwright?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:54am coelacanth:

Thanks rich!
  Sat. 2/13/16 2:55am neil:

...did i miss paint your wagon? lee marvin has such a great voice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:57am coelacanth:

anyway, that reminds me to pull out my old Peg-leg Lee albums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 2:57am JakeGould:

@coelacanth: Yes! The game was a digital representation of the plot of Neil Simon’s “California Suite.”

@rich: Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 3:00am coelacanth:

i think being a ground groundhog might be the worst thing ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 2/13/16 3:01am JakeGould:

I prefer wind groundhogs and fire groundhogs.
