LOVE this BB Xmas song!!
I love that about Brian Wilson production anyway, what I call the "sleigh bells on the beach" vibe.

HI Therese! Hi listeners! Happy holiday season to everyone!
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 12:11am Matt from Springfield:

Are we going to get the scratchy "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" organ bed music tonight? I look forward to that every December now! :)
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 12:14am Hoboken Jack:

Hello Therese. Hello all. Good tidings.
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 12:14am JakeGould:

Maybe we’ll hear that song about Paul McCartney simply having a wonderful Christmas time?
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 12:15am Matt from Springfield:

Love the simplicity of that song. And that's enough.
  Mon. 12/14/15 12:18am cheri:

seasons greetings to therese and all! I just love the holidays!

my all time favorite Christmas tune is " do they know it's Christmas" by band aid
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 12:29am Matt from Springfield:

Johnny Largo on the Optigon! That's it!
As long as it's this artist, and really scratchy, I'm DIGGIN it!

  Mon. 12/14/15 12:34am MONEYBAG$:

I heard a cover of Wonderful Christmastime in Wegmans earlier that made me appreciate the original more
  Mon. 12/14/15 12:44am cheri:

Mon. 12/14/15 12:46am Jeff in HI:

Dick Van Dyke is still alive - and just turned 90!
They even had a "Step In Time" flash mob in L.A. as a present:

Hey, spoken Jamesbrownese.

Go Drummer Doug!
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 12:59am JakeGould:

Dick Van Dyke is currently dicking the dyke of a lady who is 46 years younger than him. Talk about Chutzpah!
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:00am Matt from Springfield:

Jake, that was...necessary, actually.
In two years she'll be half his age!
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:06am JakeGould:

Not too sure about the time parallax between Dick Van Dyke and his lady friends but I trust your judgement on this.
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:13am Matt from Springfield:

"Amphetamine Reptile Records" - perfect label name for this B-52ish band.
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:15am JakeGould:

@Therese: I see what you did there.

Mon. 12/14/15 1:33am Bob in DC and/or Virginia:

This show has been unspeakably brilliant. You've outdone yourself, Therese.

I hope everyone had a very warm and oddly comfortable Eight night of Hanukkah tonight!
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:43am Matt from Springfield:

I was unaware of that, though I was comfortable tonight (oddly).
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:44am JakeGould:

I ran out tonight to get a midnight snack from the corner store and I could have worn just a t-shirt instead of just a light sweater.
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:46am Matt from Springfield:

I know! It's crazy warm down here as well! Possibly a record warm.

I drank from a newly-opened bottle of Bowmore 12 year old Scotch tonight, so I'll toast L'chaim!
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:47am Matt from Springfield:

I prob would've stuck with the end of The Philadelphia Story (1940), that's a long time fave.
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:47am JakeGould:

@Matt: It’s a Mitzvah!
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:50am Matt from Springfield:

Na zdrovje, Jake!
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:50am JakeGould:

@Therese: I am looking forward to seeing if Chewbacca (1) wears a jacket or (2) rips somebody’s arm off in the new “Star Wars.”
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:52am Matt from Springfield:

A vest-jacket, right? Open front, with the arms exposed?
And yes, single-gesture arm-rips would definitely seal the deal.
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:54am JakeGould:

@MattfromSpringfield: I don’t know what kind of jacket Chewbacca might wear, but I want him in a jacket. And I here the way he rips an arm off is Rey (the girl) gets her gun taken away from her by some alien, and Chewbacca rips off the alien’s arm and gives her the arm with the gun back. If that happens… I’m screaming!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 12/14/15 1:54am Therese:

I thought that Wookiies only ripped arms off if they lose at space chess?
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:55am Matt from Springfield:

Oooh! Is this from a Joe McG "Joe" premium?
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:57am JakeGould:

@Therese: Yeah, they said that in the first movie but maybe it’s space chess related. Like Rey is playing space chess, she wins, an alien gets pissed and takes her gun and Chewbacca growls and rips the arm off. It’s completely conceivable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 12/14/15 1:57am Therese:

It is! Joe McGasko makes awesome Christmas compilations.
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 1:59am Matt from Springfield:

Woohoo! Joe McG has great taste anyhow, glad he included a good soul cut for his comp!

I look forward to such Chewy justice.
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 2:01am JakeGould:

@Matt: In one scene in the trailers, Chewbacca clearly has a new messenger bag and in one scene a bandage on his right arm. So hey.
Avatar Mon. 12/14/15 2:02am slowbear:

just watched the "Anti-Cheese Edit" for phantom menace. still a boring ass movie.
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 2:03am JakeGould:

@Therese: You are going to deny your nephew that extended Sy Snootles blues bar yacht rock sequence in the revamped “Return of the Jedi.”
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 2:03am JakeGould:

@slowbear: Yup. The whole premises of those prequels are just wretched. None can stand on their own.
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 2:04am Matt from Springfield:

GARBAGE prequels!! Step AWAY from the set and the editor booth, George!!
Avatar Mon. 12/14/15 2:04am slowbear:

People pleaded with George Lucas to make them less stupid, but he wouldn't listen. He's like, "kids love this shit," but they're like, "no you are the only one that loves this shit."

Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 2:07am Matt from Springfield:

The "Happy Xmas" single b/w this is prob the greatest John/Yoko single pairing ever. In terms of context it's as good as any John/Paul Beatles 45.
"Happy Xmas" b/w "Snow is Falling"
"War Is Over" b/w "Peace Is Here"
War Is Over (If You Want It) b/w Peace Is Here (If You Want It)
It's *beautiful*, i tell ya! :D
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 2:09am JakeGould:

I actually sat down this past summer to write down some childhood memories and wrote down my memories of seeing all of the original “Star Wars” films in a movie theater. My memories of “Return of the Jedi” were basically… “What is this crap?” The second that guy with the head tentacles (Bib Fortuna) met R2-D2 and C3P0 in Jabba’s palace and said, “De wanga wanga” I couldn’t take the film seriously anymore. youtu.be...

You played this one last year. So to bring up my research again from last year:

"For all-important Cowsills family info, this page is pretty up-to-date and comprehensive:

Evidently, Marissa is Bob Cowsill's daughter, Susan's niece..."
As opposed to her own daughter named "Miranda".

Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 2:24am JakeGould:

@slowbear: It took me years to realize that doing drugs itself wasn’t a bad thing mainly because 100% everyone I knew growing up who even smoked pot really grew into full blown addicts are just plain old losers. Now I know you can be a speed freak and own a Wall Street firm!

My lucky good news for Christmas is that on Sunday afternoon, I found the 24V transformer that powers the fiber-optic tabletop decoration. No need to go off to Radio Shack to try to find a new one.

It's warmer on the East Coast than it is on the West Coast. Weird.
Avatar    Mon. 12/14/15 2:46am JakeGould:

@Ken: Do you mean 24 Volts? Or 24 Watts? Because as far as tons of consumer computer tech goods go, it seems tons of AC adapters are 12 Volts at 2 Amps… Aka… 24 Watts. You could probably go to any thrift store and rifle through the cable and transformer bin to find at least one 12 Volt/2 Amp AC adapter.

Hiya from Philadelphia!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 12/14/15 2:51am Ken From Hyde Park:

@Jake - It's 24VAC at 2 Amps. The part that puzzles me is how the tree part of decoration was in its box up in the attic and the transformer was in a pile of random electronics down in the basement. At least they're reunited now and I can make sure they stay together for next year.
