Thank you, Sheila. As a woman, I have trouble finding music... because Apple has changed iTunes and I now have to scroll through 20k freaking songs to find something (instead of just being able to pull it up on a small seasonally curated selection of music on my iPhone). So I've just started using Spotify... Jimmy's competitor. Ha.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm
doctorjazz:

@Gaylord-I didn't do any research, just my very unscientific impression having FMU on many hours a day at the office, but I'm glad to hear them any time. Bands do often have a waxing and waning of interest over time, and some do come back after the "sick of hearing them all the time" phase has passed.

I think WFMU plays more music in a 3 hour set than most radio stations play in a week.

And, I still like to hear Hotel California (after being quite sick of it for a while).

Gaylord, I have wondered what is defined as "heavy rotation" on WFMU... 3 plays in a week?

@MONEYBAG$: There is such a thing as a "WFMU hit": usually new releases that have caught on with more than one DJ in a given month. But my guesstimate is that the most popular song in a given week would get 3-5 plays.

Dean from Baltimore:

Save Your Soul is a blast - it's usually held in the Lithuanian Community Center, a massive church-like relic with spires and many mirrored surfaces inside. I've seen J. Waters there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm
Guido from Cologne:

I miss my local "northern soul" nights. Just know about quasi-mod parties right now.
(By the way I'm back from Wire concert. ... loud ... well, teenage nostalgia, so to say. But some people who never heard of them before were seriously amazed.)

That Gia track is what one might call a stunner :)

Would the Baltimore soul night happen to take place in the Lithuanian Hall? I was at a Night of 100 Elvises there once, and it was pure fabulous.

Yes Modchick65 you are correct.

@statoj I think it's only been going on for 5ish years.... The Lithuanian hall is off MLK Blvd, near the UM Biopark
