Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Hello Uncle. Nice Lotus 7 though.
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 12:08pm Alex In Illinois:

Another Fleetwood Mac song that I never heard before. This is from before I knew there was a such thing as Fleetwood Mac.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 12:10pm Brian in UK:

There was someone on the radio the other day talking about the original Fleetwood Mac who had two women singers. What!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 12:12pm Uncle Michael:

John McVie wasn't in the "original" Fleetwood Mac...true story.
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 12:12pm Alex In Illinois:

From Uncle Michael, I learned that there were a number of incarnations of Fleetwood Mac.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 12:13pm mauri:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 12:13pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 12:13pm Brian in UK:

Peter Green was special. (Pre acid)
McVie was on the first album with the rubbish and dog?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 12:14pm Uncle Michael:

He was on the first album. He was not in the original lineup though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 12:16pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

McVie were not the Mac in Fleetwood Mac?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 12:17pm Uncle Michael:

he was! it's so complicated...they named the band in an effort to attract him...it initially failed to.
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 12:18pm still b/p:

Bare Trees, pretty familiar song, but one of those for which I never could have named the artists, and then learned who with some surprise. Needs to be a term or acronym for that occasional occurence...
NEMBA - name escaped my band awareness
CHATIC - couldn't have answered the identification challenge
TOR - them, oh, really?
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 12:18pm Alex In Illinois:

Weren't there 2 McVies? One married to the other, and the female one playing piano and singing and writing songs too? Right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 12:19pm Uncle Michael:

Christine was still Perfect when she joined the band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 12:19pm mauri:

Hello Melinda!
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 12:32pm Alex In Illinois:

I got into the Prisoner when I was in my late teens too, when PBS started showing it. Many things I like about the theme music, one of them the way that the thunder is part of the music. Though I thought it was funny that he does not notice the large ominous black car following him home.
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 12:33pm Lane Gray:

Good morning, y'all. Unless it's not your morning
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 12:33pm Brian in UK:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 12:40pm Uncle Michael:

ah ha...or fakirs, maybe
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 12:43pm Gaylord Fields:

@Lane Gray: Ah, yes — as expertly applied in his "Lonely Blue Boy." So Conway would be a good artist for Dan Bodah's show.
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 12:43pm still b/p:

Conway sounded for a moment or two like he was approaching a Fudd singing impression.

  Fri. 11/20/15 2:10pm Dean:

I thought El Esty was the Spanish language homemade baubles and bangles web site.

“LSD is a psychedelic drug which occasionally causes psychotic behavior in people who have NOT taken it.”
― Timothy Leary
  Fri. 11/20/15 2:10pm Dean:

And wasn't LSD invented in Salt Lake City?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 2:11pm Uncle Michael:

I doubt Albert Hoffman spent a lot of time there.
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 2:11pm 67tele:

i remember when i was hooked on LSD the monkey on my back had the cutest Nehru jacket and these big cool Jackie O shades...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 2:11pm Sue P.:

Since I wasn't there, just wondering how much of a demographic overlap there was btwn folks listening to this country-style music and those who were actually taking LSD?
  Fri. 11/20/15 2:12pm Dean:

Ah, but another Hoffman did. Mark. See Mormon Murders.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 2:12pm Lewis:

is there a theme in this set?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 2:13pm Uncle Michael:

Sue P, I'm not sure that's a subculture I want to know a lot about.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 2:14pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It took a while, but eventually there were the Cosmic Cowboys. I like when Merle & Willie toured together & Willie would come out in the middle of 'Okie From Muskogee': not sure except - embracing the ambiguities...Truckers were always among the biggest dopers anyhow...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 2:15pm Sue P.:

I guess everyone is entitled to Free Love, eh?
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 2:17pm Uncle Michael:

It's free? Goodnight Cleveland! Love ya!
  Fri. 11/20/15 2:20pm Dean:

Smelled this one coming. I once had a nightmare--truly horrifying--after playing this album one night. All night long I tossed and turn as this song played incessantly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 2:20pm Parq:

Nice cap to this set!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 2:21pm Uncle Michael:

Bad trip, Dean?
  Fri. 11/20/15 2:23pm Dean:

Having your mind blown on acid or hearing "Kid Charlemagne" twelve thousand times...which would you choose? I choose bunga.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 2:24pm Parq:

Speaking of research, never really knew who that song was about until I looked it up today. Had a college pal who thought it was about Manson. Interesting theory.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 2:25pm Sue P.:

hahaha...@Dean, to me, that is basically asking "do you want something good or something bad?"
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 2:25pm 67tele:

Dragnet! yay Blue Boy! Thought that sounded familiar...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 2:28pm Uncle Michael:

Dean, I have to choose?
  Fri. 11/20/15 2:33pm Dean:

You could flip a coin, or a dachshund, heads or tails. Don't get me wrong. I like "Kid Charlemagne." TRS is the only SD album I own, so far. But that dream...that interminable dream...
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 2:33pm still b/p:

Royal Scam is one of the albums in my short stack from way back that oughta be transferred to disc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 2:44pm Lewis:

Rod McKuen?!
  Fri. 11/20/15 2:45pm Dean:

This was way back before "federal dick" meant Anthony Weiner.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 2:50pm Lewis:

Damn Uncle Michael, but I surely do enjoy your radio program!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/20/15 2:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Good to know Clefs had more than 'Stop Get a Ticket' in 'em...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 2:51pm Uncle Michael:

That's much appreciated, Lewis. I surely do enjoy presenting it.
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 2:51pm ndbob:

Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 2:52pm Uncle Michael:

I like it when you folks blow my cover...knowing more about the records I play than I do.
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 2:58pm Rich in Washington:

Ah, the early, weird Ferrante & Teicher.
Avatar Fri. 11/20/15 2:58pm Rich in Washington:

Their Adventures in Carols is a really trippy Xmas album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/20/15 2:59pm Uncle Michael:

Before they became grandma's favorites.
