Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

Avatar Fri. 11/13/15 1:27pm Alex In Illinois:

There are some videos on YouTube of Sturgill playing in a trio called "Sunday Valley", which is like hot Rockabilly. Wikipedia claims it is Bluegrass, but it is on drums, electric bass and Telecaster.

Maybe "Rockabilly" is not the correct description. Just look on YouTube.

I saw Jerry Lee Lewis at my local county Fair many, many years ago and I am surprised they didn't call out the national guard. He flipped the place upside down.
Avatar Fri. 11/13/15 1:36pm ndbob:

@UM Hopefully not - I often get annoyed when I hear complaints about mainstream music - I love most of the Brill Building music - but it was just as commercial as today's pop
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/13/15 1:38pm Uncle Michael:

A bit less focus-grouped, perhaps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/13/15 1:39pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

It's always been both Show & Biz - but I don't think the business model - or economic & social realities now are analogous to what they were in say the 60s. We're encouraged to see the surface & think, for instance, the Top 40 Chart means the same thing it did then. The term 'Post-Modern' in fact may have started w/ Architecture that puts a Classic face on a new structure...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 11/13/15 1:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...literally - a facade...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/13/15 1:41pm Uncle Michael:

When Chuck Leavell's piano solo comes into this I still get chills...every time...and I don't know why...other than this is a perfect piece of music. Then Dickey's solo...man.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/13/15 1:42pm doctorjazz:

Guitar heaven!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/13/15 1:43pm Uncle Michael:

The joy in this music levels me.
Avatar Fri. 11/13/15 1:52pm Rich in Washington:

it's been interesting to see Frampton come out the other side of his superstardom and inevitable scorn and put stuff out. Maybe for me it's due to being made to listen to Comes Alive too many times by my older brother.
Frampton actually seems like pretty down-to-earth guy from what I've read and seen in interviews.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 11/13/15 1:55pm Uncle Michael:

helluva player too...still mad at myself for not going to see him at a community college a few years ago
Avatar Fri. 11/13/15 1:55pm listener james from westwood:

@Rich: He had enough of a sense of humor to appear (and be the butt of jokes) on "The Simpsons," too.
