I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

OK, I'm game: Maïlys
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 11:09am Mayuko:

Wish you could be on live! I should adopt Maïlys to be my name if I ever live in France.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:01pm Gary:

Happy to be able to listen live tonight
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 5:02pm listener james from westwood:

Evening, Mayuko and all!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:02pm Mayuko:

Great! Hello Gary!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:02pm Mayuko:

Good evening, james!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 11/9/15 5:05pm Polyus:

Hello Mayuko and Vertigoats.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:07pm Mayuko:

Hello Polyus! Glad to have you on board.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:09pm Charlie:

Hello, Mayuko, all. Glad to be here 'live' for a little while.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:13pm Mayuko:

Oh great, so happy to have you here even for a bit, Charlie!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:16pm Charlie:

very nice sounds, comme toujours, Mayuko !
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 5:17pm Carmichael:

Heya Mayuko and the listening public. From where is that picture?
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:21pm Mayuko:

Thanks Charlie, that means a lot to me to hear that from you! Welcome on board, Carmichael! That picture is from a dream... (translation: I don't know where that is)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 5:25pm Artie Haywire:

Tuned in. Here for the dreamtime.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:26pm Mayuko:

Hello, Artie Haywire, thank you for tuning in! Soon it will be less nightmare-ish. Though nightmare can be beautiful too sometimes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 11/9/15 5:26pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Greetings, Mayuko. Have you met little Dusty yet, the new mascot?
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:27pm Gary:

One of the craziest concerts I ever saw was Diamanda Galas, I think in Minneapolis?
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:28pm Charlie:

"one-note samba"
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 5:28pm coelacanth:

greetings Mayuko and others

(finally get to hear your program again as it unfolds, at least the majority of it)
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:32pm Mayuko:

Hi, Ken, thanks for tuning in! I haven't met the Dusty yet. I don't even know what Chincilla really is, to be honest, I'll have to find out. a kind of rodent or a rabbit, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 5:33pm northguineahills:

Howdy folks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 5:34pm northguineahills:

Yes, chinchillas are rodents that are native to the Andes.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:34pm Mayuko:

ohh, coelacanth, glad to see you on this time slot! I think I usually see you when I do over night shows.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 5:39pm coelacanth:

yes i'm a bit of a night owl.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:40pm Mayuko:

northguineahills, thanks for tuning in and the chinchilla info. So Dusty should be originally from andes. Glad to have a hispanic person as our mascot. Although chinchilla could be part of pre-hispanic culture.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 11/9/15 5:42pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Here is some chinchilla info. www.livescience.com... The article mentions that the pet chinchillas in this country are descendents of eleven animals that were brought here in 1923.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:42pm Mayuko:

oh coelacanth, I was thinking you were from other time zone! haha!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:43pm Charlie:

all you overnight night owls should get along with the chinchillas, which are crepuscular. then again, you owls might want to eat a chinchilla, so maybe that won't work out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 5:44pm coelacanth:

chinchillas speak quechua!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:46pm Charlie:

banjoraga
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 5:49pm coelacanth:

...i'm just an hour+1/2 northwest of where you sit (or stand) Mayuko. i just have a disobedient circadian rhythm.

Charlie, chinchillas need not fear this night owl. - 'not enough meat on those little fur-balls!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 11/9/15 5:50pm Polyus:

Paul Metzger, St. Paul's finest!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:51pm Charlie:

coelacanth -- so what happens to the chinchilla meat after their fur is taken for coats?
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:51pm Mayuko:

That's very true, Charlie, this does sound like raga. I heard Daniel Higgs' track doing banjo raga too, seems like that's what banjo does!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 5:52pm Carmichael:

I know this underlying banjo theme from somewhere. My brain gears will smoke and eventually seize up until I recall it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 5:54pm coelacanth:

Charlie i don't know. it's sad to think about killing an animal without using every part of it, but i've never heard of chinchilla meat.
....i know i'll never eat chinchilla. (or wear it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 5:56pm coelacanth:

yeah this is awesome! (& raga-ish)
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 5:58pm Gary:

Super love for that Paul Metzger track
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:00pm Charlie:

Yeah, very cool. That's a lot of strings for a (modified) banjo. That's enough info for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 6:01pm Carmichael:

Aaah, the Pogues' "Pachinko" uses the same melody. That's where I heard it, although I'm sure they nicked it from an old sea shanty or something.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:06pm Charlie:

We are all going to age beautifully like leaves.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:10pm Doug Schulkind:

こんばんは、老婦人の藤野!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:11pm Charlie:

This first hour has been perfect while I've been doing some tedious typing/copying. But now I have to go make dinner and have domestic harmony time. Thank you, Mayuko. (Hi Doug!)
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:16pm Mayuko:

Thanks for hanging out with us, Charlie, have a good night!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:17pm Mayuko:

Pachinko?! That's the last thing I'd associate from raga music, haha!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:19pm Mayuko:

Good evening, Doug, but I'd say 老婦人 is at least over 60's, haven't got there yet! haha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 6:20pm listener james from westwood:

@Charlie: Same, but proofreading. This show is made for word workers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 11/9/15 6:20pm steve:

hey Mayuko. thanks for this lovely soothing music. as usual im at my workbench drilling and soldering frantically so i can go enjoy dinner and relax. in honor of this nice weather took a trip to secluded Dead Horse Bay in south Brooklyn yesterday which was super cool. lots of silence and nature sounds.
  Mon. 11/9/15 6:20pm Dean:

This Satoshi Sonoda prompts me to play, later tonight, Vladimir Martynov's "Come In!" as performed by Kremerata Baltica.
Avatar    Mon. 11/9/15 6:21pm Rich in Washington:

What an amazing track!
BTW, @charlie, @listener James, here it's tedious page layout, editing. This is working out fabulously.
Nice show, Mayuko!
  Mon. 11/9/15 6:29pm Jeff g.:

Hello from my kitchen! Listening via phone. Loving this Bowie...
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:30pm Gary:

I used to see this woman (then known as Suzy Soundz) performing on the streets of San Francisco in the 80s. Everyone knew her (not personally, but as a presence), and everyone had an opinion. :)
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:30pm Mayuko:

Hi steve, Dead Horse Bay?! Sounds like a great place, I wanna go check that place out! Glad to have you tuning in, Dean, Rich in Washington!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 6:31pm listener james from westwood:

Certified WFMU crossover hit!
@Rich, I used to do page layout myself. Some publications were a lot less fun than others. Oddly, I miss the table-heavy psych journals the most. So many little challenges to unkink for each article.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 11/9/15 6:33pm Ike:

Hello hello hello!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:33pm Mayuko:

Hi Jeff! Glad to have you on board! Thanks for the info, Gary! I don't know anything about this lady - it was in our library here at fmu.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:34pm Mayuko:

Lots of writers/editors here! Hope I didn't embarrass myself bringing literature up, haha.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:35pm Mayuko:

Hellos Ike, welcome on board!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 6:36pm northguineahills:

This Rolf Julius is nice....
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:39pm Gary:

Suzy Soundz aka The Space Lady would stand on the street with a hat on with lights on it and stare off into the distance while playing her keyboard. Here's a photo I just found online of her from around that time: nightdrivemiami.files.wordpress.com...
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:40pm Mayuko:

ngh: This Rolf Julius stuff is part of a permanent outdoor audio installation at the Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh, so if it's "permanent" it should still be there right?! Would be really cool to be surrounded by this sound!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:41pm Doug Schulkind:

You have the wisdom of a 老婦人, Mayuko!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:44pm Mayuko:

whoa, that's a great picture, Gary!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:47pm Mayuko:

I'm faking it til I make it, Doug! haha.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:48pm Gary:

She kind of scared me at the time, I have to admit. I mean, she would stand there like a statue, except for her fingers and mouth, which were moving while she played and sang. But whenever I ran into her, I would always stop and listen for a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 6:48pm northguineahills:

Thanks Mayuko, very nice evening sounds!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:48pm Doug Schulkind:

This is Satie-esque and way lovely.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 6:50pm Carmichael:

I keep waiting for this song to bust out into Tuvan throat singing.
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:54pm Mayuko:

This is my last song today! Thank you all for listening!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 6:55pm Mayuko:

(wish I could throat sing myself to make that happen)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 6:58pm listener james from westwood:

Thanks very much, Mayuko! This show hit the spot!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Mon. 11/9/15 6:58pm coelacanth:

Thank you Mayuko!
ciao peeps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Mon. 11/9/15 6:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Good luck with your upcoming art show, Mayuko!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 7:00pm Gary:

Thanks for the terrific evening, Mayuko!
Avatar Mon. 11/9/15 7:02pm Mayuko:
