Circle the wagons! It's Circle Time! What happened to the fur-lined fallout shelter today? Is Rex redecorating or something?

High School USA was recorded with 28 regional versions not per se US State based. Anyway in 1959 there were only 48 states I think. Be well.

Melissa Jean:

MAGIC!

Steve Krinsky:

Little Willie John was the younger brother of Mable John, Mike Shelley's recent guest. He was a great R&B singer who first worked with Paul "Hucklebuck" Williams. He died in prison, in Walla Walla, WA; he was doing time for killing someone in a knife fight.
  1:35pm
Mark R.:

I discovered James Carr long after the fact, Melissa. Yeah Steve, Willie John was a real badass, I guess.

My exhaustive, scientific research shows Alaska became the 49th state on 1/3/1959 and Hawaii became the 50th on 8/21/1959. Also found that today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. Yeesh!

HOT DAMN!!!! That John Lee Hooker song back to back with this Wanda Jackson one!!!
  1:51pm

Fret not Mr. Gould. Johnny Kidd is the closest anyone will come to talking like a pirate in this studio today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm
fred:

@Ken: I'm so disappointed Talk Like A Pirate Day falls on a weekend: my lab tries to sell software to identify duplicate songs in labels' catalogs, and my boss relies on google translate. So he calls it "finding doubloons"
