Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:05pm JakeGould:

I consider it in that context as a “Dry Run.”

yes
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:07pm chris:

dummy run might also be the thing people do in horror movies when they're looking behind them as they run, and run right into the thing they're running from
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:08pm JakeGould:

@chris: Yeah, like the lady at the end of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Also the truck driver in that scene who really runs funny and then disappears… Where did that dummy run?

That's almost a zen proverb

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:32pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

He may have a point: some posit that LSD relates to adrenaline - the fight or flight hormone - as it has such an effect as such a tiny dosage; when you are full of adrenaline because of fear or aggression, your pupils dilate so you can see better, blood goes to the brain so you can think fast - so perhaps adrenaline & enlightenment share traits of increased awareness, even chemically/biologically...

  Fri. 8/28/15 7:37pm vince:

It's got a couple of 'sound collages' on it
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:38pm People Like Us:

got this one from Charlie's Premium from a couple of years back
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:38pm vince:

for those of you who like that sort of thing

I'd like to see that film
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:39pm People Like Us:

have you seen it?
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:39pm vince:

the 'collages' sound good in a movie theatre
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:40pm vince:

yes...I have
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:40pm People Like Us:

heard good reports
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:41pm Cliff:

Well adrenaline (aka epinephrine) is one of the catecholamine neurotransmitters (along with dopamine and phenethylamine), and LSD does contain a PEA backbone within its structure...it's also got similarity to tryptamine, which psilocybin from magic mushrooms is based on
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:41pm vince:

I was with a bunch of rather old people in the theatre... I'm sure the 'swirl' freaked them out a bit
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:41pm Michael:

Love and Mercy is on disc mid Sept. Dunno if it's streaming anywhere yet.
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:42pm People Like Us:

ha ha ha
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:42pm People Like Us:

reminds me of when I went to see the Wings movie
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:43pm vince:

the collages are done by a guy called Atticus... something..
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:43pm People Like Us:

it was a handful of silently over-excited people - one sat in front of us and was taking photos of the screen, and then himself with his ipad
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:43pm Cliff:

Other popular phenethylamines include mescaline, found in peyote; and serotonin and melatonin, hormones that regulate the sleep cycle
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:43pm Michael:

This set is loverly.
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:43pm vince:

I wonder if you went, like I , to see "Give My Regards To Broadstreet" when it came out
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:44pm People Like Us:

I like this weaving of conversations on the comments
I love "Give my Regards...", sort of, yes I think I do anyway, yes I do
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:44pm vince:

quite embarrassing
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:44pm People Like Us:

it's actually in my current live set :)
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:45pm vince:

your secrets safe with me
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:45pm JakeGould:

I don’t know about the U.K., but in the U.S.A. if you take selfies with an iPad in a movie theater, one has the right to grab that iPad and smash it against a wall.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I suppose since organic chemistry tends to be based on not that many elements, this sort of thing occurs - & is also responsible for so many side effects. The evolutionary angle here is interesting too...
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:45pm vince:

WaiT!!! the movie itself??
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:45pm People Like Us:

especially at a Wings movie
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:47pm JakeGould:

@vince: You really have no clue how stupid people are until you pay attention to some people. Not all people. But some. AND WHY BRINGS AN IPAD TO A MOVIE!
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:48pm People Like Us:

he was on his own, it was his witness
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:48pm wobbly:

so you can play synthesizer along with the Cluster you're playing out of your iPhone speaker
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:48pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...they should screen people for screens @ Screenings...
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:49pm vince:

I don't have an iPad
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:49pm People Like Us:

oh look it's wobbly, hello
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:49pm JakeGould:

@PeopleLikeUs: Can’t wait to see the iPad at the trial!
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:49pm vince:

WOBBLY.... nice work last night!
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:49pm People Like Us:

they should search for films at the cinema
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:51pm Cliff:

Yes, LSD is quite an interesting molecule because it has similarities to several different types of neurotransmitters.....A chemical analogue to it, LSA, is found naturally in morning glory seeds and was used by native Mexican cultures in religious ceremonies....it is also produced by ergot fungus growing on rye, and is suspected to be the cause of St. Elmo's poisoning outbreaks in Europe in the Middle Ages, and is speculated to have been the primary ingredient of the kykeon brew consumed during the Eleusinian Mystery initiations in Ancient Greece.
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:51pm People Like Us:

at the Wings movie everyone was mouthing the lyrics to all the songs but everyone was there ALONE so not singing, and evenly space in the empty seating. Apart from the bloke with the ipad who was in front of me
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:52pm chris:

Thanks, Vicki, for the delightful show. Thanks, All, for the company. It allowed my iPad some time to itself.
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:52pm People Like Us:

I bought tickets well in advance, convinced it would sell out
you're welcome Chris :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:53pm Cliff:

(I'm a bit of a psychedelic chemistry nerd. Sorry for blabbering on and on there)
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:53pm vince:

oh... this was recently....?
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:53pm vince:

was it "Rockshow"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- those are the only two sources for lysergic acid, from which LSD is made. Is 'No More Lonely Nights' in that flick??...
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:54pm People Like Us:

that's alright cliff, it provides a nice bit of thread to the comments quilt
Rockshow, yes - so it's old, but was new at the cinema again
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:54pm vince:

Is there no psychedelic biology?
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:54pm vince:

Old is new
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:54pm People Like Us:

ha ha, Revolution Rabbit
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:55pm People Like Us:

YES I think so
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:55pm P-90:

Never did see "Give my Regards..." Must correct that oversight. It must be streaming somewhere...
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:55pm People Like Us:

Wings is old is new
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:55pm Cliff:

You could say that human biology is psychedelic biology, since our nervous systems seem to have evolved to be highly sensitive to those substances.
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:56pm vince:

Take "Broadstreet" with a grain of..... something
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:57pm P-90:

Oh, I'll take of couple of grains for sure...
Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:57pm People Like Us:

thanks for listening folks
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:58pm Cliff:

Which is why it only takes 300 micrograms of LSD to have you frying your face off for 12 hours. Not a whole lot of other chemicals out there that are that potent.
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:58pm Phil:

Thanks for another great show Vicki!
  Fri. 8/28/15 7:58pm vince:

Have a happy week
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- the usual Scientific write-off is that drugs in nature are natural defense mechanisms (caffeine makes bugs spazz to death, for example) - but perhaps most of what we call human culture is a side-effect of a grain of something or rather out there...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:58pm Cliff:

Thank you Vicki, and see you next week! :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:58pm JakeGould:

Goodnight/goodday Vicki!

Avatar Fri. 8/28/15 7:59pm People Like Us:

night all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 7:59pm Cliff:

I tend to think so too, Revolution Rabbit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 8:00pm chris:

you could say there's no psychedelia without a perceiver, since the word describes a state of perception. in that way, all psychedelia requires a biological entity... at the basest level, however, there's chemical reaction involved
Fri. 8/28/15 8:00pm Listening Out There:

Great program. Thx!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 8/28/15 8:00pm Michael:
