I needa go to Radio City sometime - never been! - glad you mentioned it. My mama was in Pennsylvania & my papa was in the Coast Guard stationed on Gov. Island circa 1969/70....they'd meet in NYC and see shows at Radio City.
  Sat. 6/13/15 11:10am P-90:

Only problem with Radio City: acoustics for amplified music can be tricky. I've seen that shows there that had mixing problems until 30 minutes or more into the set.

You and Rex both vying for Lloyd Price. Maybe interview could start at 12:50 and end at 1:10.

This music could either be "my day off will be productive as hell" music or "my day is gonna be slack as hell" music. Thanks Mike!

BABY - Aaron in Minneapolis almost stole your catch phrase!
  Sat. 6/13/15 11:42am P-90:

@Michael Shelley: Your description hit it perfectly, the consistent issue at RC is that amplified music gets very "muddy" very quickly there if it's too loud, so you often hear exactly what you described: that "Mom turned it down a little too low" sound. I was so excited to catch the Emmylou Harris/Mark Knopfler tour there a few years ago, and the clunky sound was very distracting, lots of people in the audience were talking about it during intermissions and while exiting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 6/13/15 11:44am Baby:

Catch Phrase?? It's a way of life. Keep dreaming Aaron!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 6/13/15 11:46am Aaron in Minneapolis:

That too, is a way of life. You are dismissed.

I went to see Lloyd Cole play a house concert last night. He said that on one of his albums, his A&R guy told him he had too many songs that had "Baby" in them. He said his A&R guy was right.

Yep. Happened once in New Orleans. I think the bartender just wanted us to all leave though...
Avatar Sat. 6/13/15 12:08pm Michael Shelley:

Marc - what kind of person did the buying & why?
  Sat. 6/13/15 12:09pm P-90:

John Lennon used to walk into bars on the Upper West Side, and if he decided he felt comfortable enough there to stay for more than one drink, he'd quietly ask the bartender to give everyone there a round on him.
  Sat. 6/13/15 12:10pm Brian:

When I lived in Chicago, a ward heeler came into the bar I was in and bought a round for the house on election day
  Sat. 6/13/15 12:10pm Tommy:

A few friends of min finished off my ounce of colombian one evening , does that count ?
  Sat. 6/13/15 12:11pm Noah:

Around college graduation, I was one of about 10 people in the small town bar. He was from a wealthy family, pretty drunk, bought a round for the bar. It was Jegermeister, but it was still fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Sat. 6/13/15 12:11pm Baby:

Yes Tommy, yes it does.
Avatar Sat. 6/13/15 12:11pm Marc Francis:

The bartender actually bought everyone a round. And when we were done he politely asked us to all leave. Ahhh. The famous Mermaid Lounge. Sadly now closed.
  Sat. 6/13/15 12:12pm lloyd michigan:

I bought Chicago Bulls center Luc Longley a beer at the Double Door.
Avatar    Sat. 6/13/15 12:12pm Matt F:

I've been tending bar for about 10 years and I've seen it happen exactly once, a year or two ago- an Australian guy who is a semi-regular came in in the middle of the day, the historically lousy soccer team that he had followed since childhood had won an important playoff game in some sort of miraculous come-from-behind fashion, after years of heartbreak and futility, and he bought everyone in the place two rounds. Although there were only 7 or 8 other people there and some of them were just there for lunch and didn't want a drink.

Is the request line open?
  Sat. 6/13/15 12:15pm lloyd michigan:

Matt F...Small world. Luc Longley was an Aussie. Was gonna buy him a Foster's but he wanted a Bud.
  Sat. 6/13/15 12:15pm Stuart Rose:

Brian, sounds like an archetypical Chicago moment.
But there must have been similar outbursts of " generosity" in New York in Tammany days.
