Listening back to one of my favorite episodes this week, and I might swoop in with your comments!

Hey Ange! Sorry to see you're off the next schedule :( Hope that otherwise you have a great summer though :)

Why isn't Randy dead yet?

He's got the skills...that don't pay the bills :(

Has Randy donated blood?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

I remember this episode.
  7:23pm
Listener Robert:

But consider, Danne, that Ms. Silenzi's had a noticeable paucity of new material lately, & she probably has the wherewithal to produce new stuff for her own podcast, independently hosted IIRC.
Avatar 7:23pm
Ange:

I hope he's never donated blood!

Alex Kid in Miracle World:

I came in late. Who is this dude? Can somebody explain what im hearing?
Avatar 7:25pm
Danne D:

@Robert true - but I'm just awful with keeping up with podcasts tbh :(

@Ange - will there be a live finale next week?
Avatar 7:25pm
Ange:

Yes, leaving the schedule for the summer! I just can't balance the show with my job and family right now. I'm going to try to bring it back in a new form, that doesn't have to be an hour long and weekly -- I think it will be a stronger show that way.

Andrea Silenzi:

@Alex -- this is Randy. We met in a bar in Park Slope and became phone friends for the show.
  7:26pm
JakeGould:

@Ange: The nice thing about donating blood is they screen your blood for every disease on Earth. So Randy could not infect anyone. If anything it can help keep you healthy!
Avatar 7:27pm
Alex Kid in Miracle World:

This dude does a fantastic douchebag impression.

@Danne -- yes!! All the regulars will get together for one last live show on WFMU.

FWIW, I never heard this before so it’s nice to understand that Andrea’s dog is a Corgi/Pitbull mix. Adorably deadly cute combo!

@AlexKidinMiracleWorld: The secret of comedy is there are no jokes in the sense anyone is faking anything. Just saying.

@Ange cool :)

Danne, I too am guilty of out-of-sight-out-of-mind thinking. A generation will have to grow up that's completely non-schedule-bound in their thinking before it makes no difference, but for now the arrangement of programs into schedules has a great influence on our habits.

Hello!

So this is the first time ever I hear Andrea's show and now she's saying she's not in the summer schedule.

Yo Groucho!

@FΘFΘ (: Archives are free and always available.

This is not the end of Why oh Why, right? I'm confused.
  7:38pm
Listener Robert:

Not just schedules, of course, but other habits in entertainment, socializing, work, etc. I was middle-aged before I started taking showers in the morning almost ever, because our parents bathed me & my sister at night.
Avatar 7:40pm
Ange:

I'll miss this, too! It's not the end. I just don't know if it will come back to WFMU or not. It will probably exist as it's own new podcast soon.
  7:40pm
JakeGould:

@ListenerRobert: TMI.

FΘFΘ (:

JakeGould,

Indeed. Thank goodness for the archives!
  7:41pm
JakeGould:

@Ange: I think your shows would be better as non-schedule-adhering deeper podcasts. You clearly want to go deeper on topics, but that seems to not work well with a regular schedule. Lots of podcasts are like zines in that way; when someone has enough material they expose it to the world.
  7:41pm
Dr. Karl Jung:

Your mother bathed you every night until middle age? Call my office for an appointment.
  7:43pm
Listener Robert:

It's like in "Death of a Salesman", when the salesman gets a wire recorder so he can record Jack Benny while he's on the road. When pointed out that he had a radio in his car, he said, sure, but who thinks of that?

Hmm...I guess the lack of a stated time interval makes the bathing habits story read potentially as funny.
  7:44pm
JakeGould:

And that’s just my 2 cent, observational (earservational?) constructive criticism. If I veered into “Mansplaining” apologies. Respect.
  7:45pm
Listener Robert:

Jake, maybe Ange's program would work better in hyper-audio, where there'd be embedded links so you could branch off into footnotes or digressions if you wanted to. I wonder if Lloyd Braun's patent covers that.
  7:46pm
JakeGould:

Hyperaudio, schmyperaudio… That’s not the point.
Avatar 7:46pm

I gotta run - but have a good night everyone :) Great to hear these classics!

I never had a session w Karl Jung, but I did with Alfred Adler's daughter, & 1 with Albert Ellis.

Also had a session w Nando Pelusi, Ken & Andy's relationship counselor.

I am a long time fan of yours via SSD, first time listener.

Whatever you do, Andrea, I wish you the best and I know you are going to do it as you are very talented. I always wanted to asked you if you heard the UK's Guardian's review of your radio show?
  7:51pm
Listener Robert:

And I met Margot Adler a couple times.
Avatar 7:54pm
Ange:

FOFO -- yes, I did! It was so interesting to hear them chat about the show, and if it was good for women!
  7:55pm
Lurker:

Some shows should go away but not yours. Andrea this was truely original.
Avatar 7:56pm
Ange:

I agree about going deeper with the show. I also love the idea of a podcast where I can release short recordings, phone calls with friends, interviews with experts etc. -- I promise to influse lots of WFMU in everything I do forever (even if it's not here.) I came up in this place, and SSD will always be my favorite radio show.

Best of luck to Grandma Phyllis. I lost a uncle to cancer yesterday. It's tough when folks grow old. Let us know if you have a listener meet-up some time.

FYI, best of luck with Grandma Phyllis. Went through some health issues with my parents in the 1990s. I know how it feels in a way. Stay strong.
