Hello from Serbia :)
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 8:56am listener james from westwood:

Good Wednesday, Jeff, Jeff, and all!!
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 8:59am Jeff Golick:

hey, hey @Mare -- from Serbia!!

And greets/good Weds to you, @ljfw!
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:01am listener james from westwood:

Appreciated the pre–in theme "In Crowd" if that was y'all's stream commandeering in action.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:03am Jeff Golick:

'deed it was! Thanks for noticing! You ARE the in-crowd.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:07am listener james from westwood:

"Casino" uses 2 versions back to back as a whale gets his comeuppance. Glorious.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:10am Jeff Golick:

Marty really is nonpareil when it comes to re-purposing (re-porpoise-ing?) pop tunes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/20/15 9:16am doca:

Hey, Jeff G, listener james and Mare!
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:17am Jeff Golick:

Mornin', @doca!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/20/15 9:17am doca:

Morning! Digging the new time slot, though I'll have to leave soon.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:19am Jeff Golick:

Glad you can drop by for a spell...we'll be here when you get back, archivally speaking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/20/15 9:20am doca:

@Jeff G: I was late and got lost on Downtown going to the William Parker concert, then I got back to find my friends and got lost on the West Village that day. It was the only time I got lost during the whole trip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/20/15 9:22am doca:

Who's on this Chicago Reed Quartet?
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:25am Jeff Golick:

@doca: so easy to get lost heading to DMG -- it's taken me years to figure out my one route.

Re Chicago Reed Qt: aerophonicrecords.bandcamp.com...
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:26am Jeff Golick:

Dave Rempis, Ken Vandermark, Mars Williams, Nick Mazzarella.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:27am listener james from westwood:

Loverly stuff this first set.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:29am Jeff Golick:

Glad to hear it @ljfw. ODing on horns. And coffee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/20/15 9:29am doca:

@Jeff G: Thanks! Four great players on it. Those are nice players. And yeah, the rest of Manhattan is easy, but those two sections of it are hard to understand.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:29am Jeff Golick:

These cats -- Del-Alfoldi -- are Hungarian.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:30am Jeff Golick:

Other highlights from the trip, @doca? You see ICP on Wednesday?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/20/15 9:33am doca:

@Jeff: No, I went to the Acid Mothers Temple concert (no regrets, lots of noise). I went to Barbès twice, which became my favorite place, for sure. I wish I've seen more stuff on The Stone, but the Leo Smith concert I saw was also great. I've seen lots of music, but almost nothing of what I planned to.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:34am Jeff Golick:

Ah, Barbès! My white whale. I live about ten blocks away from that club, my son has been good friends with the owner's son, and I've never seen a show there!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/20/15 9:34am doca:

And also an open mic night on Jalopy, in Red Hook, which got along well with the folky-side of my musical tastes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/20/15 9:36am doctorjazz:

Hey all! Have to say, haven't listened to that much "out" stuff in a while (going through a 2nd or 3rd or 4th adolescence, pop-punk binge), have to say, really enjoying it! Nice show!
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:36am Jeff Golick:

Ah cool. The Mekons will be at Jalopy in a month or two, I think. Hoping to make that one...

You really got along wonderfully, it seems!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/20/15 9:37am doca:

Really? You need to go. Good beer and lots of music. I went to a Brecht concert, then the house African-style band, and on the other day to a project called Weird Wednesday, with home-made instruments.
And Park Slope is beautiful, by the way.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:37am Jeff Golick:

Hi hi, @doctorjazz! Wonderful to hear it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/20/15 9:40am doca:

@doctorjazz: D:O show is master in doing the difficult seem easy, or the 'out' seem 'in'.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:42am Jeff Golick:

Aw, we're blushing, @doca.

All we ask is that you listen with your ears.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:44am listener james from westwood:

Rats! My best to Jeff J. for a better day after he recovers. Horrible!
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/20/15 9:51am doca:

This is one of my favorite records from the Nonesuch series. Kronos Quartet recorded a version of it, but I haven't listened
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:53am Jeff Golick:

Oh, it's wonderful, isn't it?
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:54am listener james from westwood:

Wasn't one of Dick Dale's relatives an oudist, and a strong influence on his guitar style?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/20/15 9:54am doca:

Yeah, I don't know what is that he plays, but it has the same sound of the Malian kora.
And btw, this one could fit easily into the Sublime Frequencies catalog, www.nonesuch.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member Wed. 5/20/15 9:55am doca:

But I have to go. See you later, Jeff G. and folks. Best wishes for Jeff J!
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:55am Jeff Golick:

I've been looking for that one, @doca. Take care, and thanks for coming by!

Didn't know that, @ljfw! Makes perfect sense.
Avatar    Wed. 5/20/15 9:58am duke:

I'll take doca's seat.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 9:59am Jeff Golick:

A perfect fit, @duke, and we only need to change three letters.
  Wed. 5/20/15 10:03am trs:

Wednesday greetings and hellos. Nice looking slot switch you've got going, here.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 10:05am Jeff Golick:

Thanks and welcome, @trs. We are getting used to the new digs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/20/15 10:15am doctorjazz:

Man, this is beautiful (Soledad).
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Wed. 5/20/15 10:17am doctorjazz:

Puns will get you everywhere, @doctorjazz.
  Wed. 5/20/15 10:32am Dean:

Sorry to have missed Hamza el Din. One of my favorites, too. Heard him perform at McCabe's Guitar shop in Santa Monica. He did a lot of work on frame drum. Another great recording of his is "Lily of the Nile" on Water Lily Acoustics. Radiant sound.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 10:32am Jeff Golick:

Cooper on bugle here.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 10:33am Jeff Golick:

Hi, Dean. Good (early) morning to you! Must've been lovely to see el Din live.
  Wed. 5/20/15 10:39am Dean:

Early-ish by now. And good morning to you, too, and the listeners/commenters.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 10:47am Jeff Golick:

Cooper on piano here.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 11:07am Jeff Golick:

Here's is Doug's show memorializing Jerome Cooper; it is wonderful: www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 11:36am listener james from westwood:

I'm already feeling good about how this show and Amanda's will pair up.
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 11:38am Jeff Golick:

Me, too!
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 11:39am Jeff Golick:

(Had to do some last-minute shuffling, though, so as not to overstay our welcome.)
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 11:44am Jeff Golick:

At the top of the hour, please join Amanda in the next room: wfmu.org...
Avatar    Wed. 5/20/15 11:45am duke:

The speed part of this suite is pretty impressive

Thanks for a great Wednesday morning
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 11:58am listener james from westwood:

I deem this time slot change a rousing success. Thanks, Jeff and Jeff-in-absentia!!
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 11:58am Amanda:

I got you Jeff!
Avatar Wed. 5/20/15 12:02pm Jeff Golick:

Thanks so much for tuning in, @duke and @ljfw, and finding us at these new coordinates in time and space!
