Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

I used to check out an Album by the Records from the library. It had a song called Teenarama on it. I don't know why they did not become more popular.

Hi Doc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/1/15 12:17pm Pedro G.:

I think I read that Randy Newman wrote that song having never actually been to Baltimore. That's how good he is.
Avatar Fri. 5/1/15 12:22pm Doug Schulkind:

My oldest and dearest friend lives in Baltimore. He was in London visiting his daughters during the height of the protests in Baltimore. While in London, he stumbled on a "Stop Police Violence" rally in Brixton. Same as it ever was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/1/15 12:26pm Uncle Michael:

My brother is an ER nurse in Baltimore. *sigh*
     Fri. 5/1/15 12:27pm Listener Robert:

The TV show (after which the band was named) Dept. S has been on my mind lately because it provided a lot of the source material for "Lost". Long story.

Baltimore reminds me of the Battle of Baltimore which reminds me that the war of 1812 has been completely over for over 200 years now. So the US and Britain have been at peace for over 2 centuries.
     Fri. 5/1/15 12:37pm Listener Robert:

Uncle Michael, did you have an interest in either "Lost" or "Dept. S" or the band?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/1/15 12:38pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

RIP Ben E. King.

SLF !!
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/1/15 12:39pm Uncle Michael:

I'm going to read your link and figure out what I have an interest in.
     Fri. 5/1/15 12:39pm Listener Robert:

Among the myriad clues to the cx on "Lost" were Charlie's "DS" signet ring & the fact that he was in a British band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/1/15 12:41pm Uncle Michael:

I never watched Lost.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/1/15 12:53pm Pedro G.:

What soil are you using for your tomatoes in the containers? I need advice. I used to just put them in the ground but production fell lower each year, plus the dang squirrels would pluck them.

@Listener Robert the title 'Is Vic There' comes from a Monty Python phone-in sketch.

Enjoying the show, an essential part of my Friday routine. Coordinating with my nephew to remotely til and plant my future garden this weekend. Can't wait to have my own yard to mow and vegis after living in the city for the last decade! Kind of really want to get a "reel mower" (there's a whole subculture around them i've found out).
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/1/15 12:56pm Spaniel:

Maybe "subculture" is too strong. But lots of youtube videos on them.

Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/1/15 12:59pm Mike East:

bone meal, eh? Its almost time to repot my tomater...she's growing too big for her yogurt container. Basil seems stunted :(
I've just been using miracle grow potting soil.
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/1/15 12:59pm Uncle Michael:

@ndbob: Maybe that is how it was tested.

@Spaniel, It's great for a 500 sq ft lawn. Just can't fall behind. This is my 2nd one. First was a 50 year old Sears that was great till its wheel split.
Present one not as good.

I have several and am loathe to listen them all the way through to find this sample.

I will find out someday. I just find his records somewhat painful to listen to all the way through.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/1/15 1:29pm Alex In Illinois:

Lane & Uncle Michael,
At least rabbits have meat on them, and the pelts can be saved too. The Joy of Cooking actually shows how to skin a rabbit. I have never done it myself.

I don't think moles have enough meat on them to be worth the preparation trouble. It's a good thing foxes don't need their meals cooked for them. Can barn owls eat moles? They are certainly good at mouse killing.
Avatar    Fri. 5/1/15 1:29pm Rich in Washington:

I have so many apocalyptic sermon records that they now have their own divider card.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Fri. 5/1/15 1:30pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Rexella's rhythms presumably devil-free...
Avatar Swag For Life Member    Fri. 5/1/15 1:31pm KevinfromBayRidge:

@Spaniel Not totally Maintenance free. Should sharpen the blades every few years and it's a bitch getting grass out of the wheel wells. Glad you're a former BR Lansmen!

Nothing like foxes for controlling moles.

I had this amazing faith healer record where he cures a woman of stomach cancer and gives her a hot dog and a Pepsi - sounds like a parody record but it isn't

Evan, I think Unca Michael is right. There is steel with a sitar bar, but I thought I heard frets. And steel has more sustain. For steel with sitar bar, listen to Stan Hitchcock's "Honey, I'm Home"
